Display problems

Hi, I dug my Amiga 500 out of the loft last night hoping for some retro gaming but when plugging it into my LCD TV I was unable to get the telly to find the display signal of the Amiga. From what I can gather from reading other posts my TV may be unable to detect the low 30khz ish signal from the Amiga??? Not sure if I'm right in that assumption, however I do have a couple of PC monitors lying idle (the old CRT type) with VGA cables. Can I buy an adaptor like this http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=183 and play through a PC monitor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How are you connecting to the TV - if you are using SCART then there are many threads ongoing that you may want to take a look at.

Sorry, forgot to mention. Am using a RF cable from the back of the modulator box the plugs into the back.

Hi ginge73, and welcome to EAB.

Do you know for sure that the modulator is working properly? Do you have it plugged into the antenna input of the TV? What UHF Channel is it set to? Have you tried it in another TV?

Some TVs need the little switch on the side of the modulator flicking over. Have you tried that?

Smile Sorted

Borrowed an old CRT from my dad and get a good picture from the Amiga so I guess my hi-tech LCD can't handle the low-tech Amiga. Oh well. Thanks for your responses.

Well, I'm astonished!

Doesn't your hi-tech LCD TV have an antenna socket?

It does and I was plugged in through that but for some reason I couldn't get the telly to get the amiga signal, guess I'll have to read the manual and try and get it tuned in.

Only thing I can think of is your LCD TV is from a different region to your A520. If they A520 is in the UHF band and the TV can only receive VHF (or vice versa) then that is all I can think of.

Get yourself a SCART cable or at the very least use the Composite video output and not the RF output!!
