Yeah I agree with Galaxy on this one! Best to include the issue number, year and month at the start so they sort correctly and match the others.

As for legality issues, I don't think it's much of a problem. We are only linking to the files, and the files can be taken offline almost instantly if required so upload away!

One thing you might want to think about actually, if someone clicks a link and it starts downloading the file, they might not be too impressed if it chews through 300Mb of their bandwidth. Should we have an intermediate screen on your site that says how big the file is etc? I could direct to that page for any coverdisks marked as CD's if you like?

I dont mind CT what ever is convienent for the AMR team really

I have asurances with streamline that I have no limmitations on bandwidth or space so, a simple size mention when they click the download through AMR would be fine with me.

Direct linking and get-right type programs would also be supported and the server allows http1 resumes etc.

so a little caution to the user that its going to be downloading xxx MB size, and recomend using a resuming downloader etc. that perfetly fine for me

just checking i get the naming convention correct.

<magazine suffix and number>_<year>_<month>_<disk number>_cd.rar
<magazine suffix and number>_<year>_<month>_<disk number>_front.jpg
<magazine suffix and number>_<year>_<month>_<disk number>_back.jpg
<magazine suffix and number>_<year>_<month>_<disk number>_insert.jpg
<magazine suffix and number>_<year>_<month>_<disk number>_checksum.txt

is that what the AMR team is after?

on a final note do you mind 'rar' compressed iso's or do you prefer another image format or compression ?

sorry to keep asking questions after questions, I just want to get it right and not cause any more work for you all...

I would just copy the filenames that already exist on your site (as some mags don't have issue numbers etc) - but with cd1.rar or whatever for the end bit.

RAR format is perfectly fine with me too!

Gimme a yell when you have one online and I'll do the linking...

I wonder, would it be worth including the jpgs within the main RAR?

rar is fine. Avoid zips as they are typically 50% larger for isos.

well thusfar, with Codetappers help.

I have uploaded Amiga Format CD 42 and CD 49, this i am sure will be linked soon.

I am yet to get a scanner so the cd case images will have to wait.

I have included a .txt of each cd, with the synopis that is on the jewelcase label and inserts.

heres the filename convention

af133_2000_02_cd49.rar
af133_2000_02_cd49.txt

the af133_2000_02_cd49.rar contains both the an "mdf" and "mds" file.

to review the text include, should you want more info. have a read here

The reason the file format has changed is that some disks are multi-structural (i.e. have mixed CD structure such like audio and data etc), these cannot be written as an ISO format, as such I have defined the use of the tool (in the .txt file) should that a non-ISO be made.

Unless the AMR team wants to adopt any specific multi-part rom format as a whole, I will just continue to create .mdf / .mds files (alcohol 120% base format) if there is another file type that the team prefers I would be happy write these in that file type if that is possible.

on another note... I have only a few Amiga CDs from magazines left in my collection, so if anyone wants to donate or lend me to image them for the AMR team i can always send them back after I am done.

I would've thought it would be more sensible to use the already verified CD images from http://www.toseciso.org/ (ignore any possibility of me being biased :P) ? Certainly rather than creating Alcohol images, if you go down that route a bin/cue would be more universally useable.

There are currently 287 Amiga coverdisc images in the current database, 245 of which have been dumped by multiple people & verified, as well as 27 CD32 coverdisc images. All of these images have been spread (almost certainly they'll be on http://full.pleasuredome.org.uk/index.php torrent site as a start). Although, you can also create them from your own original discs (there's a guide linked on the main page of the site) to save on uploading.

If you do image any of your own discs, please let me know if you match the published checksums for anything in the database with a yellow dot (yellow means it's only been dumped once at the moment)

I would offer to help uploading but I don't collect this particular set, although I do have most of them as original discs if there's something you can't find/get someone to upload at a later date.

Amiga CD coverdiscs :- http://toseciso.org/list.php?sys=5&cat=2
Amiga CD32 coverdiscs :- http://toseciso.org/list.php?sys=1&cat=2

@[idoru]

I am all for saving time if the work has already done , is it possible that AMR can link to these iso's on tosec ?

I would also like some tool suggestions for imaging cd's as alcohol and nero are soe what limmited. (unfortunately my linux box is down, so it has to be windoze tools i am afriad )

if you have a pimer on how the tosec creates its image dumps i would be more than happy to read it. I am always looking out for ways to help.

I do so appreciate your offer of uploading, this would i am sure not only speed up the access for AMR uses but also releive some of the pressure of the uploaders (me lol).

if its okay with the AMR team i would be more than happy to add you to the ftp user list tonight

as another point it would be cool if there was a list to work from as well

The site is a database only - no actual ISO's are stored on it.

My offer was slightly different to that :P

Check the links in my earlier post, they link directly to the coverdiscs sections of the database.

They're included in the "TOSEC (14-03-2007) Amiga CD32 & CDTV" set on Pleasuredome, but you can exclude everything else in the torrent if you only want the coverdiscs.

Are these on Underground Gamer too? (can't check right now) If they are I can download some of them and upload them to the server, I'll just set the uploads going and leave my computer on.
