They should be compatible, the EDO feature just doesn't get used. However some boards are very picky about RAM, so you just might be unlucky.

OK, to this is strange. I obtained an A500 Zorro II slot adapter, and plugged the DKB into it. I tested it by booting to workbench, so, all is working properly on a 3.1 setup. I then put in 1 four meg simm into bank A, changed the jumpers, and it boots and runs fine. I then added the 2nd 4mb simm into bank B, changed the jumpers, and booted. It gets to workbench without issue, but, after a few seconds, the mouse BUSY pointer shows up, the workbench screen flashes black (background goes to black, but, the title bar stays in place) and the machine gurus and resets. After it warm reboots, this issue disappears, and I can use it with the 8 megs of RAM with no crashes.

The A500 has 2 megs of CHIP via a DKB MegaMini, with a 512KB RAM expansion in the trapdoor.

What about running a memory checker on the Rapidfire memory with the 4MB stick installed? MBRTest-2 is my go-to for this.
