Amiga specific EPROM burning hardware/software
I looked around EAB and found not very much info concerning this rather obscure chapter...
Were there any Amiga-specific EPROM programmers? I see there were some Zorro boards for the bigger machines, but little info can be found... How about the machines like A500? Could a general parallel port (i.e. for PCs) burner be used with them? Also, how about the software used to operate them? I see that every time it comes to a discussion about EPROM burning and burners, e.g. for making a custom Kickstart, all people talk about using PCs for doing the job... how about "pure" Amiga, even for that? I also know that there existed a german-oriented burner called Vesuv (by some manufacturer Rossmöller), which was suitable for C64/128 (via user port), Amiga, Atari 16bit and PC (via parallel port), but I can't locate its Amiga-specific software anywhere, nor any detailed info about the hardware itself... |

But how about software? Were there some kind of "generic" applications for burning, or every different programmer had its own dedicated software? |

PC is more convenient to use than Amiga - of course nowadays you can have even EPROM burner with WiFi but... and AFAIK there is no standardized software for EPROM'ers - every company have usually own software.

I have this eprom programmer. http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/rex9203
it works on the 500 and anything with a serial port. the software is listed on that page and i think the manual was only german. i have the paper manual somewhere. Pandy is right, most software was only for the particular burner. there are also projects on aminet if you wanted to build one. check out eprommer.lha mech |

Go buy a tl866 programmer for windows and pickup an adapter to program the eeproms. I posted on an electrical forum how to wireup the pinout (which is just a pinoutswap) and some guy in the uk beat me to fabing the boards and sold a number of the pcb's

So I'm still looking for this "Vesuv" EPROM burning software, by the german firm Rossmoeller!
It surely existed once upon a time for the Amiga... Anyone??? |
