You'll have to figure out the custom disk format and extract it yourself.

You can also use WRip (whdload utility) on the diskimage to extract RNC files (but there are no names: you have to rename the files).

Ye the only other way would be to extract the files from memory dumps etc. All methods require time and figuring out what's what. I don't think a filed version of any Bitmap game exists, I may be wrong. I know the first Xenon on the ST was filed on one disk somewhere, I think...

no insterest in "filing" this game for crackers since the disk format is already dostrack.

Games like Cannon Fodder were filed because lowlevel format was NDOS but there no luck. The best way is wrip: will give quick results.

Thank you for your help.

I've successfully extracted the files from the disk image. Of course it won't run, but i only want to decompile the game binary with the game data.

Interestingly, the files are again packed differently on ECS:
- Atari ST: all files RNC1 and the intro RNC2 (no mod/instruments)
- Amiga OCS/ECS: 50% RNC1, 50% RNC2 (contains mod/instruments)
- Amiga CD32: some sparse RNC1 files but almost everything unpacked

I've added the ST version to my viewer, I'm now trying to do it with the Amiga ECS. I love this one: more colors with a nice gloomy palette <3 .

Chaos Engine Viewer - v1.03 released and available at my website.
- Added: Support the Atari ST, Amiga OCS and CD32 versions of Chaos Engine.
- Added: Original game data are included in the package.
- Added: "Save All as PNG..." entry in the "File" menu exports all sprites at once.

Any comments are welcomed!

Thank you. Chaos is really a must. Playing with it was really fun (literally and reverse engineering it). Initial work of Jotd and Exl helped me a lot too, thank you. By the way, i hope they will not bear a grudge for having hijacked their thread .

I'm taking care of Magic Pockets & Cadaver.
Yeah i would love. But... there are still a big amount of unknown data in the game files (.CAS and LEVSDAT.BIN) and i don't have much time left for looking at them. Maybe in the futur we will gather enough information for making an editor, who knows...

Your viewer is the best thing that has happened to this thread!

no prob it's not hijacking since your viewer is superior by far

An idea that I have: for the fields you don't know, try to change them, run the game and see what happens. Did this with Magic Pockets with great results.
