Actually, I think you're right, mtb - 'vestibulum' is an entrance hall in Latin.

So, change of plan - 'Hall' = a long room. Check everyone please!

I've added all the new translations and made a first stab at translating to Tolkien's Quenya language.

The dwarves of Erebor will of course expect equal time - Shall a translation to Sindarin be forthcoming as well? I know where you can find a nice Cirth font on the web...

Hey! I still think "O Salão da Luz" would be more correct

Even more if you consider the spanish version to be "El Salon de la Luz".. El Salon de la Luz means EXACTLY "O Salão da Luz" in portuguese.

And then I bet the french version isn't "Le corridor de lumiére" , because I am pretty sure the word "corridor" in french is "corredor" in portuguse.

But then we have to wait 'til RCK comes back or any other french talking member says how it would be correct in french, as I have no idea.

The Latin translation comes directly from the quotation on the front page of the HOL, so I didn't translate it myself. The English translation seems to have been derived from the Latin version in the quote and not the other way around.

I'll check it out!

Well I'm not quite sure how to translate Hall but "Hallen af lys" would be a pretty definite translation meaning something along the hall made of light (Hall as in room), "Korridoren af lys" being hall as a corridor like long room. Not quite sure if this is exactly what the name is supposed to indicate.

Walker : The Swedish translation should be "Ljusets Sal".

Kriz : in norwegian "lysets hall"

Now I'm a bit confused. Those two look like it's being the hall belonging to the light. What is the meaning of the name exactly? Or maybe I'm just worse at Norweigan and Swedish than I thought.

Is the hall made of light or does it belong to the light?

And you might be right that Sal is a better word for hall Walkher.

The Light is within in the Hall e.g. the Hall is filled with Light (enlightenment).

Okay, here's a first stab in the dark:

Australian-English: Hall of Thingo? That reminds me of when I saw a Bunyip in Bullamanka. Fair dinkum! After a barbie for brekkie, I went with a banana bender to see a fossicker. He had kangaroos loose in the top paddock! I mean the fossicker, not the banana bender. The fossicker was a Pommy bastard. We got some of the old amber fluid and then went for a walkabout, me, the Pommy and the banana bender. We couldn't find one single Maccas out there. Only boomers. So we went home.
