Amstrad CPC 464 - 30 years old this month

Ahhh the Amstrad CPC 464, a great machine that did surprisingly well against the C64 and the ZX Spectrum. And today it's a day of celebration! Well at least if you had an Amstrad, as the old girl is 30 years today.

Had several variants in my old collection (all long gone now). Thought I'd fire up MESS and play a few Amstrad games.

For those in the know it was actually a pretty decent line of home computers. Once games where being made to show off it's true capabilities (instead of straight ZX ports) it was pretty darn good. IMHO.

The GX4000 was well underrated....Burning Rubber was one of the best 8 Bit version out there

For Amstrad fan's....keep it up ......now where's my A1200?

The GX4000 and plus range were just too late, a shame really. I'm sure they would have been capable of so much more with time.

I had some good old times with the CPC 464, my friend got one a few years after i got my C64 when we were kids and we used to both play games on each computer.

I always felt superior with the C64 and i'm sure my friend knew the C64 was better to, but would never admit it lol, it was possibly because he only had the green monochrome monitor while i was running the C64 on a large tv in full colour.

But the 464 was still a decent machine and i always liked the look of it in it's black colour and coloured key sets, and i think one of the games i played the most on it was Everyones A Wally, i can still remember the music from it and it possibly came with a real audio tape with the song as well.

Good memories.

Yes these are superb, bought and repaired one recently and just need to get a colour screen for it, or an external PSU and Scart lead.

So huge I can't find anywhere to store it though!
