cd32 reading problem

Hi,
just saved an amiga cd32 from the bin
it boots up correctly but doesn't read any disc: it seems that every CD-R is not "lifted" correctly (they stay too close to the plastic board near the lens) and eventually scratch when the laser try to read it.
any suggestions?

Sounds like someone has put pressure on the lid and pushed the spindle platter lower on the shaft. You need to remove the cd mechanism and lever the platter up higher. You have to be careful, as to much force can cause the motor shaft to bend. If it bends the laser will have more trouble tracking the disc.

There should be about 2 to 4 mm between the disc and the laser unit (not lens). If it starts to try and read it, then it might be a good idea to clean lens with IPA and a cotton bud.
