Very nice!
Out of curiosity; will the Vampire500 work with this card? Considering I got V600, and is in line for the V1200 it doesnt matter a whole lot to me, but it might be of intrest to others. |

I am a registered member... it took me about an hour to figure how to register, going back and forth with Google translate, but I finally figured it out. I can logon and kind of translate the pages but Google doesn't do a very good job with A1K for some reason. IIRC I couldn't simply translate the page and register, I had to register on the native page. Maybe try registering so that you can at least logon.... I would just tell you how to do that but it took me forever to figure it out a few months back... Last edited by Amiga4000; 24 November 2016 at 19:37. |

The Matze and I have made something like this ... This project including the prototype circuit boards was already last year, but was then put back for various reasons and concerns. Among other things, thanks to Gonzo's kick-off with his A2000 board, we have decided (now that we have all the doubts as far as possible) to complete this project What is "Project Red"? Project Red is a nearly original replication of the A500 + (Rev 8A) board. The name refers to the selected board color. The finished prototype board looks like this: Pedagogical note: I have put away the C = logo in all pictures, since we will be left out in the final version with caution. In the expansion of the memory, we are still not sure whether the dabeibleiben. Matze has equipped its board (Codename "Red Alert"), the prototype also works: A few more impressions from the PCB: Why? If you ask this question, you are wrong here What should I do with it? The board makes itself good as a wall decoration. Or as a replacement board for a battery-eaten original board. Maybe you can exchange it with a pair of socks. How is it going on? We will presumably make a second prototype, as we have dealt with some drill holes in the first version (some are too big, others too small). In addition, Matze has changed a few trifles, among other things. The contact strip must be chamfered from the expansion port. In the first prototype we did not make this for cost reasons. Bulk order? Yes. We will open a separate thread in due course, but you may already express your interest here. This makes the calculation easier. The collective order is expected to run over the tried and tested platform of halbviervier and only the circuit board, parts you have to take care of itself if necessary. Update 2016-11-23: Collective order started! Great project indeed. What still isn't clear to me is what is included if you'd buy all parts offered?
I know it comes without Keyboard, FDD and Case. But are the connectors on the back included as well? |

Ok, back to topic The ordering process may look a little complicated, here's a short explanation: Position 1 on the order list (I'm referring to the order page here) contains the bare A500+ board only (*without* the A501+ expansion PCB, we've removed that in the final revision) Position 2 contains all electronic components (without custom chips) and connectors Position 3 and 4 are two variants of the Video Hybrid ("VIDIOT"), these are DIY clones since the original VIDIOT's are probably not available anymore, You'll need only one of these. Position 5 contains DRAM memory chips, these are required too. Position 6 is the real time clock chip. The board runs without it, but you'll probably want one. Positions 8 to 14 are custom chips. We ask people to check their own stock first and not to order any surplus parts here since these chips are getting rare. Some of these chips are of B-grade quality with scratches and/or bent pins. Position 15 is a DIY kit for an 1Meg RAM expansion (like A501+ but much smaller and cheaper) Positions 16 to 18 are PLCC variants of custom chips with DIP adapter PCBs. I hope that things are a litlle bit clearer now. Please keep a few things in mind before ordering... - This is a DIY kit, you'll have to solder everything by yourself - It will take some time and patience to assemble - some parts are not available in large quantities, therefore we cannot provide hundreds of DIY kits Last edited by Scrat; 24 November 2016 at 23:20. This is brilliant, congrats.
I would order right away if I had the soldering skills needed, but I don't have any... I also have some spare custom chips. Maybe I should order it anyway and try. |

What's the difference between the two Video Hybrids (normal/FBAS)?
Edit: I found that FBAS is 'Farb-Bild-Austast-Synchron-Signal' so I guess the expensive one has a color Composite output and the normal is B/W? |

Most likely that. Actually that's rather interesting. I haven't seen composite hybrids for sale before. Another A1k innovation that I've not known about, because I didn't learn enough German in school?

I think this is a quite cool project and since I have a 500+ with severe battery damage that I had almost given up on fixing, I just ordered one of these kits. Much more fun soldering together new stuff than fixing corroded vias and traces. And besides, when I get my hands on a Vampire 500, it needs a good home.
