From Bedrooms to Billions - Sept Release!

'From Bedrooms to Billions' is a British two hour feature length documentary movie that tells the remarkable story of the UK Video games Industry.

Starting in the late 1970's the film shows how the creativity and vision of a relatively small number of British individuals, many of which were children, allowed the UK to play a key, pioneering role in the shaping of the worldwide billion dollar video games industry, which today dominates the modern world's entertainment landscape. The film features interviews with many major British game designers, musicians and journalists from across the last 30 years and has only been made possible by people ‘backing’ the project through pre-ordering and donations. This film is a must for anyone interested in the creation of games and the industry, and not just those into retro gaming of the 80’s and 90’s!

I think it’s fair to say that ice ages, civilizations and entire galaxies have been and gone during the ever so slightly extended production of this film. The entire prospect of ‘not’ working on the film feels really strange at the moment…but more on that another time. Suffice to say we are all on schedule, clearances that we needed are in and amazingly we actually find ourselves in a position with a locked edit with a little bit of ‘overlay polishing time’, adding a couple of extra clips, stills and even a new piece of Rob Hubbard music went in yesterday so we’re really pleased with that…and it was a little unexpected to have this time.

Oh and by the way, the film’s final running time is…take a deep deep breath…now exhale…
2 hours 30 minutes! We like to think you are getting your money’s worth. The main reason is we have no intentions of doing ‘Directors Extended Editions’, the film will be the film…there’s no ‘Unicorn Sequence’ to find in some film vault in 10 years’ time, it’s all in there and it’s done!

Those of you who successfully grabbed tickets for the premiere we are looking forward to meeting you. Quite a few cast members from the film will be joining us there so it should be quite a night. Due to the fact that the first night sold out so fast EGX have asked us to add a second night so we are pleased to say that tickets are still 'free' and we are aiming for some gaming legends to join us on the second night of Friday 26th September at EGX Earls Court at 7pm and we would love it if some of you can join us there. Just go to the following link and grab those tickets and we look forward to seeing you there: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/from-...ts-12999827835

What is the difference between the Standard Version and the Special Edition version?
Some of you have written to us wanting a little more clarification between the standard version and Special Edition versions of this project. As all of you have pre-ordered the film therefore ‘backing’ it into existence you would all have at least bought the £15 Digital, £20 DVD or £30 Blu-ray versions. We are ourselves only going to do one replication run of this film so we have always used the wording ‘Backers Version’ or ‘Pre-order Version’.

However this is ‘not’ the 2-Disc Special Edition! The 2-Disc Special Edition has been around for over a year now, devised on the Kickstarter boards by you as a place where so much of the extra footage can reside. This Special Edition contains a 2.5 hour bonus disc with a huge number of extended interviews, game makings of, music makings of and is the most comprehensive and we would say because of its limited nature the most collectable version of the entire project! This 2-Disc version is open only to pre-order backers of the film and will never be available in this same form with this exclusive Oliver Frey reversible cover again. Out of fairness to all our backers the only way to get hold of this version is by upgrading your standard copy of the film (digital, DVD or Blu-ray) as soon as possible by clicking here http://www.frombedroomstobillions.com/backers to visit the ‘Backers Zone’ clicking the ‘CUSTOM PLEDGE AMOUNT’ button near the top right of the page and paying the one-off £20 upgrade fee and in your PayPal note stating your current version (i.e. DVD) and that the £20 is to upgrade your current version to the Special Edition. Your PayPal receipt will act as your proof of upgrade as we receive the same info at the same time as it is not recorded by the site as the item is not available as a standalone product, the Special Edition is simply an upgrade option.

Please note, the version of the film on either the Special 2-Disc version or Standard Edition is identical, the difference is simply the second bonus disc with the 2.5 hours of extras!
