Could somebody please tell me what to alter in the prefs to get the : key working, when I press it I get ; , if I hold the shift and press it I still get the ; cheers.

Use 'input' in prefs to set the keyboard layout.

EDIT:

Argh. i guess i missread you post. it's just that shift is not working. my guess is some programm is blocking it. If you're under uae check the keyboard settings there too

Good point Tero, you are right the shift key is not working on any key, I now need to know what causing that ? Cheers I,m using Winuae

How about using the other shift key

Oh, WinUAE, then there's plenty of potential causes.

I often have my ctrl key not working, and it's everytime because uae uses it for the fire button.

My first try would be to look at the 'game ports' options
