magicwb questions

today i installed magicwb on my amiga 500 plus equipped with aca500plus. for the first time ever i did a complete install.
is magicwb-demon responsible for slow boot-animation? why does it appear in BOTH startup-sequence AND user-startup?
i assume, simply remove the two lines to get rid of boot animation? already using fullpalette for locking magicwb colours.
and what is this dock shown in magicwb promo picture? i want to install and use this dock as well!

//edit: can't get rid of magicwb-demon as i'm loosing the ability of displaying patterns > 4 colours.
so is there any other possibility to turn off this boot animation?

magicwbdemon is buggy you can remove the lines,it only serves to lock the colors
yes you can use fullpallette to block the colors, pay attention the 3 numbers for each color written in the lines, then use the same numbers in full pallette

i have locked them already using fullpalette but i can't apply the deamon colours directly on this ecs machine with only 16 colours.
so line "run >nil: C:MagicWB-Demon 4,123,123,123 5,175,175,175 6,170,144,124 7,255,169,151 8,0,0,255" had to calculate down.
on an ecs screen this makes: 4,7,7,7 5,9,9,9 6,9,7,6 7,14,9,8 8,0,0,15 which are set and locked using fullpalette.
but as said above, if i remove line from startup-sequence, workbench backdrop less colours and window pattern gone completely.
so can't remove it. i can remove the line from user-startup which i have done already. that entry in user-startup was a duplicate.

Try 'obtainpens' from aminet.
Does the same as the daemon, is _really_ small and just works.

ah ok, you have an ECS machine
in the A1200 works fine as I told you,the window pattern
has nothing to do with it
try the trick suggested by MCtrinsic

okay, magicworkbench colours are now locked while patterns still work. and finally this magicwb-demon is gone.
only question about dock (magicwb promo screenshot) is left. and how to set highres pointer on workbench 3.1?

With Prefs/Pointer you can switch between lowres and highres.

option exists in workbench 3.5/3.9, but unable to find something similar in workbench 3.1 pointer prefs.

in pointer prefs on workbench 3.1 project menu contains: "open, save as, quit"
edit menu contains: "cut, copy, paste, erase, undo, load image, reset to defaults, last saved, restore"
settings menu contains: "create icons?"
gui showing cylcle ("normal/busy") and buttons "test, clear, set point, reset colors, save, use, cancel"
but there is no option which allows me to switch between highres and lowres.

the option, high resolution and low resolution in Pointer preferences is only available if you have an AGA Amiga

ToolManager

For the Pointer problem, as mentioned by Mrz you need to set up Chipset AGA

thx, is toolmanager freeware or available as full version or is it shareware to be registered?

no emulation, real amiga 500 plus with ecs chipset. so it's not possible to set aga chipset.
anyway, have read about a tool called "lacepointer" found in aminet. will test it tomorrow.

btw. where can i find magicwb icons for apps like diropus, sysinfo, snoopdos, ...?

It should be Giftware

ToolManagerBin -> http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/ToolManagerBin
ToolManagerExt -> http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/ToolManagerExt

However, Tool Manager is not very intuitive, HERE is a tutorial

thx! already downloaded ToolManagerBin, ToolManagerLoc and ToolManagerExt. 'll try tomorrow, following your tutorial.
do you also know where to find collections of magicwb non dock icons (for workbench use), including apps given above?

thx, i just downloaded this archive, too.

as i have seen on your afa os screenshot, brushes are actually displayed as icons.
what do i need to install in order to see the brushes as icons without doubleclick?
here all .brush files have one default icon. doubleclick to display them in multiview.

The archive I downloaded contains all different icons "each is equal to its own brush", you downloaded This?

the file i downloaded, not exactly using this dropbox link but DockBrushes.lha from aminet.
i assume, it's the same archive containing the same icons as it's the same filename...

and what has to be installed for viewing brushes without need of multiview like in your screenshot?
on your screenshot every brush own icon showing brush. but here is only one icon for all brushes.
on workbench 3.1 i can't even doubleclick .brush files for being displayed in multiview. won't work.
