MUI for faster processors
Hiya Folks
In my never ending quest to get the most from my Amiga, i was looking to register MUI, i noticed that on the splash screen that it wrote ... << Generic 68000 version >> This is on my 68060, i had a small hunt and i didn't find build for faster processors, so i wonder if a registered versions is the only way to get them or if they at all exist? One would assume they exist because i wouldn't think Stefan would purposely state that this is the 68000 version otherwise. Oh, this will be for v3.8. I have read Stefan is not exactly quick to answer emails, and MUI is NOT cheap..... any news if this has changed? |

I imagine a 68020+ version was planned at one point, hence the message, but it was never released/finished. Remember that development stalled after 3.8 for a very long time. My guess is that if things had continued at the same pace after 3.8 as they did up to 3.8 we would have seen enhanced processor versions and other improvements in the late 90s.
MUI is absolutely worth registering. I suppose it's not cheap relative to modern day smartphone apps, but I remember it being a reasonable shareware fee especially given how essential it is to so many programs. Last I heard it was still possible to register, but Stefan lost his key generator so he sends a key in his own name. Send payment and live guilt-free |

How exactly MUI 4 & 5 are 020+, when they are slow sometimes even on 060? For original Amigas stick with the fast 3.8 version. Not even 3.9, which is buggy.

Yeah, i had read about v4/5 and decided against that upgrade for now.
WHen i register (I will do it this week) i might drop him a line about a version for faster CPUs, not expecting a new binary or anything, but maybe just the story behind the 68000 only version. Thanks guys - mostly just checking if i missed it somewhere. |

WinUAE is not an Amiga.

Whatever you say. Stick with your emulators, I prefer the real thing.

Right everyone makes their choices, but you'll always be stuck at the software for 30 years without ever making any progress

Users that expect progress should probably be running something other than Amiga OS.

Discussion title "MUI for faster processors", at the moment the fastest AMIGA in the world is WinUAE/FS-UAE, this can not be underestimated.

Thank you, for me these represent the memory of the great AMiGA and my two children. In any case after so many years I do not think they are in good condition.

There exists a 68020 version of muimaster.library. The patch should be on Aminet dev/mui/muimaster020.lha. On my system it becomes unstable so I stick to original version.

Just tried it today - works without issues so far on a 3.1-System/030.
