8GB or 16GB CF card with ClassicWB ADVSP
I've read several posts regarding 8gb and 16gb CF support under AmigaOS 3.1. Does anyone have an 8gb or 16gb setup that has ran fine for a long period of time? If so, what model of CF card are you using? Is there anything else I need to consider besides the updated scsi.device, <2GB partitions and SFS? I've been running a 4GB CF for a while here with no problems but it is nearly full.

I've been using for more than 9 months an "Transcend CF 133x 16GB" in my A1200D mounted on an ACard SCSI to IDE adapter and been running so smooth from day one. I use the same brand and model "Transcend CF 133x 4GB" for my ACA630 A600 but soon I'll probably get a larger drive for it (if I feel the urge of more Gigs) by buying a same but larger model.
You can check the model from this old picture of mine: Last edited by mfilos; 09 January 2011 at 17:43. |

Thanks for your inputs. I just ordered a 16GB transcend 133x for US $35 shipped. I hope it's genuine

Ok, I have the 16GB drive. I am currently trying to install it under WINUAE. I have ClassicWB ADVSP which has SFS installed. I also installed IDEFIX97. When I use hdtoolbox to partition the drive it is only showing up as 8GB. I thought the idefix took care of this limitation? What do I need to do? Thanks.

hmm, i always formated >4GB disks through OS3.9 HDTools since it's a lot better tool (at least for me) than the HDToolBox of OS3.1 and HDInstTools.
Also... the trick with scsi.device that Bloodwych has already under his installation (you can check his guide at his website) is meant for a real amiga. |

So far it's going well, I reinstalled CWB from scratch and installed SFS and large HD support. I formatted everything with SFSformat and so far everything seems great.

I'm having a few problems, I had to reinstall everything. It seems that for some reason when I power up my real amiga, the 16GB card isn't detected right away. I get the 3.1 rom insert disk screen. If I use ctrl-A-A then the card is detected. Any clues?

Yep it happens from time to time to one of my 4GB CF cards as well.
Nothing to worry about. A simple reset will gief the time to the OS to see it Most of times it happens if I tinker a lot the CF card under WinUAE and card reader. The next day seems to work just fine in normal Amiga.... Go figure! LOL |

I have installed a 4gb Kingston and it's working on my A1200 with 8mb ram card. (but unfortunately it does not work with A1200 - Blizzard060 - FastAta1200 MK4 IDE version).
http://urun.gittigidiyor.com/fotogra...-4gb-125487716 Found a 16gb Sandisk cf card: http://urun.gittigidiyor.com/fotogra...mb-s-116136083 Would this card work with my Amiga1200? (I need to replace the 4gb card since it's not large enough) Which one of these are tested and working? : http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...+card&_sacat=0 |

I don't know much about CF cards; for me Sandisk Ultra, Trascend and Kingston 133x work right, but -this thread- in 2011 not many people were using PFS, and it wasn't as good as now (PFS3AIO). You should use it.

I always use 8GB cards with PFS3DS or PFS3AIO with the Commodore supplied IDE scsi.device. Can't be bothered to patch the scsi.device. :-P

I found an 16gb Kingston 266x which is reported as working and being shown as fixed disk.
There is also a 64gb Kingston 266x. Do you think it also would work? |
