Nice! I'm trying to get the time for a little joystick project of my own. I have this arcade panel with an Amiga joystick connecter on it, and would like to hack a regular PC gamepad and add an Amiga joystick male connector to it.

Did you know that nothing beats Old keyboard buttons from a terminal keyboard (think "seventies") for firebuttons? Ultra responsive. Runner up is Cherry type blade switch arcade buttons, they are of course sturdier.

Bit like them old IBM XT keyboards with the replaceble keytops, those things are built like tanks. I recently sold one to a mate that was made in 1980 and was still 100% perfect

Heheh the red button means nothing.. only had a red key cap left!!

If you look at the configuration.. it`s Q W O K and SPACE!!

Now I could of put the red cap on the bottom button as it`s the fire button but oh well... those caps have long gone.. like Electro was saying about those keyboards built like tanks.. just de-soldered some keys/buttons from the metal frame and I use those..
Much cheaper than nearly £3 for a button and keycap from RS

Heres an idea, If we could assign keys in whdload cd32 games we could assign some of the extra buttons to the second joystick and then make a homemade pad thats 2 pads put together.

Hello, I bought a sanwa joystick and 2 buttons microswitch would not know how to make the connections?

The micorswitches should have two tabs. Connect pin 8 to one tab on every microswitch and all the other pins to all the other tabs as per the Digital joystick table.

Its been a long time but I think that is how I did it.

Since I don't understand the question, I'll just reword what THB said:

One pin of each switch must be grounded, then connect one direction or fire signal to the other pin, one signal per switch.

A microswitch usually has three terminals: common, normally open & normally closed. Daisy-chain the ground to all common terminals and use the normally open terminals for the other connections (normally closed will result in the button always being held down except for if the fire button is pressed).

I made this a while ago now, found the forum when looking through amiga sites. Joined to share my joystick and to probably take part in the games compos.

The three knobs at the top allow me to assign each fire button to either fire, up or down. This means for example on buggy boy I can have a button for each accelerate, brake and change gear. Also on platform games I can assign a button to up and use it as jump

I had a private message for the dims, so thought I would post them here also

55mm back height
30mm front height
180mm front to back
180mm left to right

Getting the buttons in the height is tight tho, so check when ordering them, they won't all fit in! I just realised T_hairy_bootson has already pointed out this problem!

I have attached a pdf diagram of how the button selectors work if needed.
