Backup EAB IRC Server

In my quest to add as many pointless things to my server as possible, I have also set-up an IRC server (using the same software as gamesnet) and I have even setup ChanServ, Nickserv and such for security.

I'm not trying to replace the current IRC room (obviously), I have just made a room in case the official one goes down again at any point, so people can use this, then go back to the official when it comes back up.

Just out of interest, who should be the mods on it? Bippy, Belg and RCK go without saying. Anyone else?

Take some pressure of RCK being forced to quickly fix his if he breaks it again

Why not use the same software RCK uses and link both servers? People wouldn't need to change their connect details and it would be automatically used as backup server.

Thats the thing though, it isn't just for EAB so there isn't any point in linking it. It is just there incase, as linking isn't really necessary as Abimes IRC doesn't go down that often (though I still think different software IRC servers can be linked).

thanks for your help, but do we really need one backup server for ~15 users / days ?

I dunno, I normally go pretty insane when I wan't to get on there and can't

The server is there for other reasons, so I will just leave the channel registered and open incase it's ever needed anyway (though I doubt it will now as RCK seems to have got everything working with the real IRC room).
