Current draw through a A600 motherboard?

Does anyone have any figures on the max current that can be drawn from a A600 floppy power connector? or the one on a A1200 for that matter?

I have a floppy drive that says 1.38A, and I want to power an internal cdrom, compactflash and another occasional use cf card from the floppy connector...

Not being electrically minded doesnt really help

TIA

@pertinax

depending on your PSU, anything from 25 watts to 35 watts, from that you can venture the max amps on the +5v line, is around 3-5 amps depending on your PSU.

A Laptop Optical Drive, around 1.5amps on the +5v
A CF card on the IDE around 400ma (0.4amps)

An accelerator can sap a whopping 2-3 amps depending.

The on-board floppy power connector is rated at 2.5A max! Grab a 44pin IDE to CF converter instead the 40pin IDE converter. 400mA is not a huge amount of current, but if you sum all, there is more than 3A (floppy, CD and CF).

BTW: even summing just floppy and CD, you'll get more than 3A. But I bet you never will use the two at the same time.

Better safe than sorry!

If you want a good spot to take power from, solder the wires directly over the original power connector (you need to know what you are doing, of course)...

Thanks all for the replys... The floppy is not being used and has been removed entirely. There is now a cf adapter in its place, which will be used for occasional transfer of files from another machine.

Any other use for a floppy connector on a miggy, except for... well, for a floppy drive? I have an external to use IF the need arises. I currently have pin 1 jumpered off so the boot time is Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeett lol

TIA

Yeah, I should have noted.
That's in "boxed" machines with both drives drawing directly from an ex-PC PSU
