CWB3.1 Lite on A2000

Hi Guys, Looking at my A2000 on the weekend, The Bland WB, I wondered if I could get Classic WB Lite 3.1 to Run on it.
Hmmm

I've done some tests using WinUAE and was surprised with the level of success..

Here we go, note Copper Destop enhancement not installed (AGA)

A2000-KS3.1 1MB Chip-8MB Fast Ram 68030..... CWB runs fine.

A2000-KS3.1 1MB Chip-8MB Fast Ram 68000..... CWB runs fine.

I have'nt transferred to a real HD yet but IF WinUAE is a good indicator, then it should be good.

Does anyone have any words of warning or experience or feedback before I take the plunge....

Thanks

The lite uses very little memory, so you should be fine in that area. You have the required rom - great.

The only issue I see is the 68000 CPU - some of the programs and libraries are 020+ only.

If something doesn't work, have a look at the WB2.1 pack and replace what you need, as that has 68000 friendly files throughout:

http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/gaae.htm

Another idea would be to take the 2.1 pack, and manually install WB3.1 over the 2.1 files (it really isn't that hard!). This can be done with two mounted HDFs in WinUAE.

I wish I could go into more detail, but off the top of my head I can't remember exactly what's 020 specific and I don't have the time at the moment to test (this crappy new job eating away at my life GRRRRR! )

@Bloodwych

Hey mate,
Sorry to hear the job is giving you real grief

It was an experiment which I think I will see through, I'm planning to expand my A2000 with an 030, If I can get hold of one!!!!!!
So all should be fine then.
Am I right in thinking that the Copper enhancement and Full WB is AGA specific?

Be cool
Cheers

The new job is just a steep learning curve and it's tiring and frustrating clawing my way into a comfortable position. I feel like I'm working at a snails pace, but I know it'll get better with time. Thanks for your concern anyway!

CopperDemon is AGA specific I think, but I'm sure there must be copper programs that work with ECS.

Scalos used in the FULL is 020+ specific, so it won't run on a standard 68000.

The FULL will work fine with ECS however, but you may need to reduce the colours from the ECS max of 16 to 8 or it might run slow.

I personaly prefer 3.5 to 3.9 too, 3.9 is handy for all the associations being there but thats the only thing it has over 3.5.

After installing classicwb i prefer it to both...great job Bloodwych

I just hope my 1240 is ok then can install advsp on my 1200
