Display 32bit OS4 Icons in Amiga OS3.x!

Bernd Roesch (author of AfA) has "ported" the AROS icon.library to Amiga OS3.x. He has also expanded it's capabilities. This new library makes it possible for Amiga OS3.x to use the same icons as OS4!

Features:

-Displays OS4 style 32bit icons (dual image)
-Displays AROS style 32bit icons (dual image)
-Displays "regular" PNG icons
-Displays 256 color Glow Icons correctly (Ken's Icons)
-Speeds up icon display -- Glow Icons are 10x faster display and need NO pens (they have perfect color precision.)
-Replaces the Deficons utility
-Works with Workbench AND Dopus Magellan!(AmiKit)
-Icons display correctly while dragging (including PNG icons)

Bernd has also created a "patch" to allow RAWBinfo to work correctly with the new icon.library.

The new library requires AfA to be installed and replaces both PowerIcons and Deficons. Bernd recommends that you keep the 'start-icon' of PowerIcons on the desktop for compatibility testing and in the event something fails.

This is the final beta release. Please report any bugs or conflicts you find.

Mason's website is a great source of 32bit OS4 style icons and I've also painted a set of 32bit def_icons (plus a few other miscl icons)for use with Bernd's new library.

Now that is good news!

Good though it is ScalOS seems to slug my system ( despite being Amithlon )

My thanks to Bernd for his hard work.

Now I wonder if I can return to DirOpus...

WHAT is the line on the bottom of the screen that looks EXACTLY like the Windows XP Taskbar???

Are they trying to DESTROY AmigaOS?

Yeah, also burn all emulators. They destroyed the Amiga and will destroy AmigaOS

None (or virtually none).

Takes a second or two at boot time, but that's it.

It's my icons that that kill speed. Stick with 4 color icons -- you'll be happier.

(Actually, since the new icon.library eliminates palette remapping, it's VERY fast -- on a fast PC, you'll never know the difference between the new icons & your 4-color ones.)

Heh, heh -- I was just kidding.

I HOPE no one is still using 4 color icons!

Hmmm . . .

I have a very nice 3000 (P96, 040, etc), 1200, and a Pegasos (probably doesn't count) -- but to me, WinUAE IS my Amiga.

To each his own.

There are more ways to modernize the AmigaOS than to plagiarize the WinXP interface.

Besides, some of you took my comment way too seriously.
