Another World documentary

To commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Another World, a documentary was shot to tell us about how the game was made. I found it really, really cool.

Part 1:

Part 2:

PArt 2 shows his graphic editor which I thought was super cool. I want it!

Enjoy!

Documentary looks very interesting, but I hate watching anything detailed on Youtube. The quality isn't good enough for me

Today's game developers should be forced to view this.

This is available in HD if I am not mistaken. I watched it at a larger resolution than the normal

YES.
I love his concept and the way he approached the game. It's full of concept. It's actually a piece of artwork or a very good design project. Incredible. I was happy to hear of all this from Eric.

Also fun to learn that this was coded mostly in a high level language. I suppose that made it easier to port.

And I want that graphic editor!

Very nice. A good reason to spend some time on this game today which I never even came close to complete.

I suppose it's a re-work on the Aple IIGS soundtrack. That was by far the best version of the game if only for its cinematic soundtrack. The Amiga version was too silent for my liking but the IIGS had an amazing score!

I think i read that only the editor was written in GFA basic, but the actual game is in assember (or c/pascal and assembler).

Amazing, thank you for the links. Another World is still mind-boggling. A work of art.

Exile, Purple Saturn Day, Kult, Captain Blood, and other atmospheric French games come to mind. There's something about the French, they are just so good at this stuff

BTW: Heart of Darkness on Playstation was actually really really great, too. I can only recommend buying it and playing through it! PC version was only 16bit (thousands of colors), and sucked, but PS version was the first console game with full 24bit color gfx (millions of colors) and rocked!
