Future Tank - all cracks bad...

Hey guys,

Was playing Future Tank tonight.

Discovered that the graphics on stage 3 are messed up:

Checked all TOSEC versions and the same issue is on all of them; bad crack

Anyone have an .IPF; or is some talented coder *cough ross*; able to fix?

Tested the WHDLoad version and it's fine:

It uses a disk image which has the additional "Time Warp" screen before the main title screens; attached.

When trying to load the disk outside of WHDLoad, unfortunately it doesn't get much past the title screen, guess it's protected.

Maybe this could be cracked and then the trainer from "Future Tank (1988)(Rainbow Arts)[cr BFBS][t +12 GFL - DOM].adf" applied?

*cough* *fixed* (a corrupt sector)

Into the Zone!

EDIT:
I was lazy, I could reinsert the "Time Warp" screen, but I'm busy with something else

Damn that was quick!!!

Thank you ross

Besides the original issue reported, the crack is missing the initial "Time Warp" screen:

...and also the highscore screen allowing you to enter your name has been skipped completely (not sure if the original writes to disk though and don't really care if it does / doesn't):

Maybe when you have time free you could crack and add the trainer from "Future Tank (1988)(Rainbow Arts)[cr BFBS][t +12 GFL - DOM].adf" to the WHDLoad disk image?

Oh BTW, I downloaded your fix from The Zone!, renamed it correctly, deleted your original file from The Zone! and then reuploaded
Future Tank (1988)(Rainbow Arts)[cr BFBS][f level 3 ross][t +12 GFL - DOM].adf

Future Tank 100% release

Lunch Break news

Into The Zone a proper full version release.
The ADF contain the Time Warp screen, a full trainer and the level 3 fix.

As a bonus there is a new Disk.1 file that can be used as an "original"
(only the protection is removed) and written to a real floppy.

Can be also used as a replacement in WhdLoad version.
Probably the one in the current WhdLoad release package contains a tampered version.
I don't think that in the original there was this :
Code:
 1.1000000 gonso
 2. 800000 eca
 3. 500000 iceman
 4. 100000 the cray
 5. 60000 blizzard
 6. 30000
 7. 10000 h q c
 8. 5000 blizzard
 9. 4000 bullshit
10. 2000 fuckhead
All versions properly save high-score on disk.

Enjoy!

Nice work! So the original image in some WHDLoad installs is bad? How do we know?

Not that's "bad", not so "original"

The only way to know is to have an original version and check the differences.
But apparently an IPF of the game is not available.
Disk.1 in my package is probably more similar to the original, but the main reason for it is that can be written to a real floppy and works
(the "protection" uses a non-standard sync mark on tracks).

Thanks.
I checked and it's exactly as expected.
Unfortunately it cannot be used as an IPF because of the corruption that you noticed
(probably due to incorrect writing over the original track).

I have uploaded an MFMWarp image created from my original Future Tank disk back in 1999 to The Zone.

There may be a good chance my original has never been modified; if you do
MFMWarp VIEWF "Future Tank.MFM"
you'll notice that all track lengths seem consistent. Typically, if one or more tracks had been written to by a previous owner (e.g. saving high scores), you'd expect the lengths of those tracks to differ.

I'd be interested to hear whether there are any broken levels/graphics on my disk, if anyone can be bothered to check.

Edit to add: My original has been modified. The game writes high scores to track 46 side 1. The length if that track in my .MFM file is significantly different from all other track lengths.
