'Psychedelic'
If anyone can give me tips to get this old demo working either on a real A1200 or UAE I'd be most grateful.
I found the (ripped) mod on a zip disk (Julius) recently, and the tune brings back loads of memories. It's an anthem of a tune Must be almost a decade old, but I'm not exactly sure when it was released. I found the full demo, but was gutted to find it would no longer run. It's even hard drive installable, requires about 4mb, but will simply not run on my A1200/030/10mb nor UAE on various settings. Running the demo leaves it with a black screen shortly followed by the infamous LED flashing and a software failure. Help! |

On a real Amiga, as you're using a 68030, the VBR must
be set to 0. If it's still not working, disable the caches and/or launch the demo into a PAL screen, or tell me to create a whd-install |

Hmm, I know how to find the cache disables, but you've lost me on the VBR
How/where can I disable that, and what is it? (only acronym I know for VBR is vertical blank rate). |

VBR is Vector Base Register
If VBR=0, the exceptions vectors table is in ChipRAM at the address $0. If not, it is in FastRAM. You can use this tool: http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/amine...ystemPrefs.lha ("VBR to FastRAM" must not be set). or if you use MCP, in Processor options, remove "VBR to FastMemory" option. |

Thanks, I'll give that a try
Edit: No joy I'm afraid, systemprefs shows that the VBR to FastRAM is already unset. I've even tried to simulate the Amiga I *know* it ran on all those years ago. This was a 1200 with 4mb ram expansion, but no processor on the card. But UAE still crashes. Disabling caches makes no difference. p.s. anyone interested to try and get this thing working, the hd version is available here. Edit 2: Removed the individual disks, they're not actually bootable looking inside the LHAs. Last edited by Echo; 13 March 2003 at 00:24. |

Bumped in case someone who got this running missed this thread the first time around. I'd still like to watch the demo
