its VERY slow, but its working
prob just some little programs without music could play at decent speed

btw the sound is emulated

too bad that both the versions refuse to load with a faster cpu and different kickstart than 1.2/1.3

the loading is easy to test, once you read into the menu
as default, the df0 is assigned to the c64 drive '9'

so, when on the c64 screen, you can swap the emulator disk in df0 with an adf with some .prg's files into, type LOAD"gamename.PRG",9,1 and press RETURN
and then wait

also other drives can be enabled (df1..3), as RAM or the real c64 drives via adapter
in the menu you can also select an hard disk (DH0..3) but i have tried to boot the disk with an hard disk connected and the emulator loading will stuck

Transactor (Jan 1988) had a small snippet on this emulator:
Quote:
Speaking of emulators. Randy Linden here in Toronto has accomplished a rather amazing feat of programming. He has written a C64 emulator for the Amiga that can handle such arcana as raster interrupts, fast loaders and code intended for the SID chip. In a recent demonstration at the Transactor offices, Linden's emulator ran every program thrown at it, except for some copy protected products, though not at full speed. Among the programs were several that pump the graphics and sound pretty hard.

Unlike the C64 emulator I have mentioned in previous columns, Linden's does not require a hardware interface - unless you call a cable an interface. The program can use a 1541 connected via the cable to the Amiga's serial port, or a regular 3.5" Amiga drive can be used to partition and format a portion of a disk in 1541 format.

The program is not an absolutely perfect emulation: in addition to the reduced speed (roughly half that of the 64, depending on the program), rapidly changing raster interrupts can cause it to stumble, as well as doublewide sprites. Nor does it work with all fast loaders; because they are so dependent on timing, Linden has to write custom code for each one.

At this point, Linden is thinking of selling the program for $49.95 (Can.), $69.95 with the cable. At last, relative files on the Amiga!

Thanks for the info. What C64 disk images are supported by WinUae?

Sorry probably a bit confused. Can you use disk images on the Amiga side or its expecting a real disk etc ?

@kremiso Can you upload and adf to the zone with some c64 programs/games that work in the emulator and give loading instructions. I would like to test the IPF.

maybe this can be helpful also to Abaddon

im on WinUAE here so an empty standard Amiga disk (adf) is enough to put whatever amount of .PRG c64 games files to test

i havent tried with the tape images (.T64) and disk images (.D64) yet, just single load .PRG files

ie you can grab a couple from here :

http://ftp2.grandis.nu/turransearch/...0&httplinks=on

unzip them, rename them with a shorter name ie game.prg, game1.prg etc

copy the files in the empty adf

load the emulator

replace the emulator disk with the filled adf

write : LOAD"GAME.PRG",9,1 and press Enter on keyboard

the emulator will access to disk and load the game

i havent found yet a way to reset the emulator when the game is running

further tries just write the correct name in the same LOAD command

---
the emulator menu can be accessed pressing CTRL + HELP
there you can also change the Amiga drive(s) used other than DF0

I tried a few games, PRG, D64, CRT (For example PRG - LOAD"GAME.PRG,9,1" Enter) they all said "SEARCHNG FOR GAME.PRG" I warped Winuae and no chage, unable to load any game?

I had the GAME.prg file stored on an empty adf which was inserted after teh c64 emulator loaded

I tried the following prg's:

Blueberry
Montezuma
Moon Cresta
Moon Patrol
Mrs Pac Man
The Pit

All loaded and started, but totally unplayable. Loading is extremely slow, but after a minute or 2 they loaded. Then typed run and slowly each of them ran.

Using the_c64_emulator_ii_unita.adf
renamed Montezuma's_Revenge.prg to g.prg
launhced emu in A500 Quikstart winuae, swapped adf with game in it
Load"g.prg",9,1

Sitting here for 5 minutes?

This is what I vaguely remembered when I tested out Unit A's release back then. It was an interesting concept, but not really usable.

yeah with the cracked version of the improved emulator the loading doesnt start at all

it is working only with the first version, but is extra slow (both emulation and loading)

prob just some little prg without music could run at an acceptable speed

---
both versions should be tried on real hardware too to confirm the working/non working

standard A500 512k or 1MB OCS and kickstart 1.2/1.3 mandatory

i have made an Action Replay freeze here that seems working also on ECS 1MB Chip

thank you
let me check it out

EDIT yeah both emulator and disk access are working also here

the emulator loading (i mean to reach the main c64 screen) is faster than the raw image one

@all
also consider that in the emulator menu you can modify the 4 c64 drives emulation (8,9,10,11)

as default, 8 and 11 are set to real drives with serial cable and adapter, 9 to df0 and 10 to df1

you can change all to different assigns, like extra Amiga drives df1..3, to RAM or dh0..3

ofc the load command you will to change the number value associated (8,9,10,11)
like LOAD"PACMAN.PRG",11,1

Anyone going to attempt making the serial cable and trying it on a 'real' Amiga with a 1541 attached?

I tried a few and got corrupt graphics like Snoopy1234.

If there were better results I was going to ask Abaddon if maybe a WHDload patch might be possible. But I guess its not worth it.

maybe of the second emulator version, if we reach to find a full working one

the files structure of the two versions seems quite similar, atm im wondering if the second version boot file could be injected into the first original working disk, to somewhat 'reconstruct' also a full working v2
