CD32 FMV module - is there any RAM onboard?

According to C-Cube CL450 datasheet, it could handle 512KB / 1MB RAM, so I'm just curious... Is there any on the FMV module or is it a straight CD-to-decoder-to-DAC solution?

It adds no RAM to the system; not sure if it uses onboard RAM for processing. It does use 4MB of Zorro II address space, though.

Yeah I knew it adds no RAM, but upon a closer inspection of the board it seems no memory at all on there...

U201 isn't a memory chip ? Seems to be a Texas Instrument 80ns memory chip from pics (mine has a NEC 80ns memory chip )
From the schemes it says 256k x16

Oh nice, thx! So it seems there's 512KB of RAM there, the minimum a CL450 can address.

All MPEG decoders have on-board memory. You can't decode an MPEG stream without it.

Too bad the memory is not added to the system when the decoder is not in use. On the CD-i for example, they managed to do exactly that.

If it's accessable by the processor it can be manually added with a call to AddMemList().
I see there's a tool (AddMem) on Aminet for this.
