Just picked this up to try, seems pretty cool for a creator engine.
Am trying to form a shmup proof of concept demo. Am reasobably certain a vert scroller is possible, we will see! However, a small issue arises. I have created my player obj and bullet shot, however, it does not move using the control (arrow) keys, though does move with mouse control. Is this a bug or? I did have it working, after a couple of tweaks it has stopped tho. In addition, my shot obj works but stops after about 50 presses. Any help appreciated. |

You have a couple of project examples that are a vertical shmup, the one named Galaga is very straightforward.
For the controls, check the ship triggers are using Input Left/Right, etc. Also, if you are using UAE, check that the settings for joysticks are not overlapping your keys. For the shots, you are reaching the maximum number of objects, make sure the shots are destroyed at some point, for example when they are out of screen. You can do it checking position but there is a trigger in Render called "Is off screen", you call Destroy as action and you should be able to fire more bullets. |

Thanks Zener for the swift reply.
All issues sorted now, i needed to look closer at the galaga object triggers to see how movement was handled. Redpill looks straightforward but the program does have a lot of depth, much to explore and experiment with. Hope development continues! Cheers |

v0.8.8 -In Objects screen it is possible to quick jump to objects thanks to the new object bar. -Camera code has been reworked. -Camera set pos trigger has been reworked. -Export now prompts user if files to run the game from floppy must be included. -Edit Image creates a new IFF file if the Image field in empty in Tiles and Sprites. -Input menu now shows a keyboard image with the rawkey values to use. -Background color added for HUD elements. -Better error handling in load and save project. -Vampire core is detected in settings screen. v0.8.10 -Start button added to Play the game not from the current level but from the initial game level. -Level background menu is now in Properties tab in the Level Editor. -New action trigger Change Icon to change an object icon. -When editing an object with parent, parent object is now displayed. -After a new project is created paths are initialized and point to the project folder. -BlockBreaker example has been added. -FIX: Not enabled objects are not visible anymore in the level editor screen. -FIX: When setting the frame manually in Animation screen. -FIX: Tile On Screen trigger was not working properly. |

And also a new tutorial [ Show youtube player ] v0.8.11 -Added shortcuts for Level objects in the object editor, to easily see the used ones and navigate quickly to one of them. -Objects have two internal variables Custom 1 and 2, now their name can be changed and the trigger name will change too for readability. -Added action trigger Tile Type is that checks the collision type of the tile where the object is. -Added exception handling that will exit the editor or game when low on chip ram or other exceptions. -Level exits have been moved to the Level Properties tab. -Change in scrolling routine when processing the left part of the map. -Added Shotemup example in the projects folder. -FIX: In Change Type trigger, not working as expected. -FIX: In Change Tile trigger, now working fine when the tile was not on screen. -FIX: In Change Icon trigger, it was not working properly. |

Sorry if this has been covered already but I am having trouble getting RedPill to run.
I have an Amiga 3000 Tower with an 060 and a ZZ9000 RTG card that passes through the native amiga screenmodes to my monitor. I have good success running deluxe paint and brilliance along with many old games which all use native screen modes passed through to the monitor. With RedPill (which I believe I have the latest version) when I launch the program the screen goes black for a few seconds then returns me to the workbench screen but there is now a small window in the upper left corner with the word "redpill" in the title of the window but nothing inside the window. The Amiga seems to be crashed for all intents and purposes so I have to do a reboot. Anyone have any experience with this sort of problem and might have some ideas for a solution? Thank you. |

update:
So I determined that the issue of the game not being able to start was because I was running ModePro. I wasn't promoting the redpill program itself, but something about Modepro running at all was interfering with Redpill opening its screen. I took Modepro out and Red pill is happily running. I am still having an issue running any of the included demo projects though. I have tried several of them and when I click "Play" the screen goes black, there is some hard drive activity for a couple of seconds and then nothing. System seems frozen. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Thanks! Dan |
