@Foul the problem is there are no (so far as I know) CHDs for those particular games.

Toni, I didn't think you would be interested in going to the trouble of adding laserdisc emulation and video playback facilities just to enable these games to be played. I just wanted to thank you, as Mad Dog 1 & 2 are two of my favourite games ever.

If we could obtain a dump of them and get them into a playable state that would be incredible.

Wouldn't it be easier to search for the dvd/3do/cdi version of MDM? Wouldn't the video already be split into the correct sections on the disc?

I thought about that, I guess the answer is maybe but absolutely no guarantee.

I think the CD-i version uses MPEG1 video, maybe the best way to test, before changing to cdxl if thats what you had planned?, if WinUAE supports FMV support?

I normally would not have cared but genlock video emulation exists and LD commands are very simple (play from frame x, report current frame, pause etc..). Genlock video stuff does the playback and transparency automatically.

Genlock video uses Windows codecs, any supported video format should work.

Only problem is frame position that needs to match what game expects.

This all sounds very exciting! I loved playing Maddog Mcree in the arcades back in the day... I also never knew it was running on Amiga hardware?!

You missed some, all of them are listed in MAME source linked above. All of them use practically identical hardware.

EDIT: I have already collected all game roms to single package. I can upload it later today if needed.

alg.zip uploaded to the zone. (Names are original + alg_-prefix added. WinUAE will use checksums, file name does not matter)

Funnily enough recently added mostly pointless genlock video support would allow full game emulation by using it to show LD video file, if they would exist.. (do they? at least mame lists them as no dump)
i told you this was a great addition

btw: there is Daphne Laserdisk game emulator. still looking for a game list, but anyone should know about that

#1) running Daphne with supported gamelist - nothing we are looking for it seems.

http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.7z (unsupported as usual!) now detects all ALG roms and also includes very basic LD player simulation.

- ROM selection is under extended ROMs.
- Some games will sort of start now.
- Game's configuration menu can be entered with right mouse button
- I didn't bother with trying to understand how light gun is connected or how trigger works.
- Most (all?) games have very long boot delay. (10s+)
- If game reboots soon after init messages: most likely reason is unsupported LD command. (I only tested few randomly chosen games)

(LD command set from: http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/...ommand_ldp.asp. MAME source was useless.)

#) maybe this should go into another thread, but there is Dragons Lair Laserdisk game.
Player software can be found here. buttom of the page. the laserdisk files may be reused from what you can download with Daphne.

Genlock video mode "Laserdisc emulation" added. In this mode selected video file playback is controlled by ALG LD emulation. (Video sound is not supported)

EDIT: Video audio is now working. Probably helps with syncing video ripped from other sources..

awesome, now we can watch movies - I start with an episode of Seinfeld

Daphne is a nogo these days. I remember using it years ago, and you could use the downloaded video files and play the games. meanwhile they have changed things and you need the real dvd/cd/laserdisk in order to get the downloaded *.bf files decrypted by Daphne - so dont waste your time, downloading anything.

Great stuff

I might try adapting the Gallager's Gallery LD rip video (obviously without the second or so at the start) if no one gets around to it first. Do we know what frame rate it expects?

Whats the max resolution CDXL on the CD32, I think this can be done a program writen to controll the video clips and score etc because you can have screen dragging on the the Amiga a screen at the bottom of the CDXL video with the Bullets score etc.
