Not so. Had an Oracle intro on it, see if i can dig it out, might have been by Conqueror but with an import intro by Scooter of Oracle.

Edit. Conqueror cracked it for Defjam and CCs and then very soon after compacted it himself to one disk, Scooter of Oracle put an import intro on it and it got spread around the UK and its the version Imhad "back in the day".

Quite a few 1 disk releases by other groups other than Il Scuro

Ok, then I stop myself
Sorry, I had only looked at EAB FTP, and maybe not even well.

I'm a bit lost among all these versions..
There is a version one disk, fully functional and with trainer?

[EDIT]I was trying to remember what version I had in the past and i'm pretty sure was without Oracle import intro

I know we dont care about numbers of disks now as media is cheap but always seems to me that if if could have been a 1 disk or was and didnt work then there should be a one disk version. No swapping. And some people do use real disks still!

The Oracle import intro would only have been used for importing into the UK.

Depending on the original groups spreading prowess, sometimes there would be no need for an import intro, because the original crack group were able to get it overseas first.

Same as with Italy, either the original crack group would have gotten it into Italy first, or a specific Italian group would havd imported it and put their intro on it.

I've checked the existings 1-disk versions (well, the ones I found ):
'original' is from Defjam/CCS crack, packed by Il Scuro (trained by Top Swap):
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr Defjam - CCS][t +6 Top Swap].adf
-
This is only a text stripped version:
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr Defjam - CCS][t +6 Top Swap][a].adf
-
The same but Phantasie import:
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr Defjam - CCS][h Phantasie][t +6 Top Swap].adf
-
The same but TFS-Frantic:
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr Defjam - CCS][h TFS - Frantic][t +6 Top Swap]
-
I've not the Oracle import but if the internal files are the same...
-
This unnamed version is a onefiled(!) than require plenty of memory (does not work on bare A1200...):
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr][t +4].adf
-
There is only a real alternative cracked 1-disk version:
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr Family][h Filemaster].adf
But a bad one: do not work on unexpanded machine, have defaced intro image and not trained at all.

To sum-up: no good G'n'G 1-disk version around

That's a good call mai

This is why in my collection / WinUAE I use the .IPFs.

Yes, I know that the 5 disk version works 100% but the disk swapping is far too confusing / horrible...

Checked.. is a crack problem.
For some reason in level 4 is executed every 3 irqs a call to module play routine in normal flux. So the replay is speeded-up.
Bad Boy (PDX) crack and SCX crack suffer the same problem.
Not the Skid Row one. So if someone wants to try up to level 4 and then check if it works it's welcome

[EDIT: I've made a patched savestate but keep crashing on WinUAE (Visual) Debugger (winuae_x64_3.6.1_b4)
(but this is a Master Wilen affair )]

Thank you for investigating my friend, appreciated

...but if you have time free in the future, do you think you could possibly re-crack and then add a nice trainer with say:

a) Unlimited lives; and an in-game key to toggle on / off
b) Unlimited energy; and an in-game key to toggle on / off
c) Level select
d) Skip level via say the [Help] key

This game is a pretty cool Arcade conversion --> Amiga so I'm sure the above would be much appreciated by all

Probably yes, but i've not checked the code yet..
I have no idea if point d) is possible .

In the meantime I found a way to in game skip levels (in addition to the choice of the initial) in Ghouls 'n Ghosts, so can be added in a future trainer.

Coolio

...whenever you get time, I'm a patient man

Re: level skip via the [Help] key. This should be possible as that's what the inbuilt "cheatcode" does, see here.

All good but considering this is such a crappy port, personally I wouldn't bother... plus the Flashtro crack / trainer is good enough IMHO

Yes the game is crap.. but i want to experiment some things.
Main idea is to make a special version that in 1MB machine load everything on start (with a modular packer), and logically as an one-disk version.

By the way, it amazes me that the existing 1-disc version has so few glitches (apart the one indicated in thread there are others).
Depacker systematically overwrite first bytes in files..

Can't fault you there; I too like to experiment / play around

...but of course not to the same level as you can.

Damn I wish I had yours / Sir Galahad's / musashi9's skills but then my work would never be complete; too many things to fix / cool ideas to implement

I adore this thread! Like back in the day. I concur, I still very much enjoy real disks and have a lot of them, including blanks. I've always taken great care of my floppy drives. Never let a disk just "slam" into them when inserting. Lots of people drives croaked from that, mine are still doing great. Thumbs up, Methanoid! I think of floppies as a helpful meditation, as I did back when.

Beautiful stuff, Ross, to see 2018 in an intro is great to me.
