Eat the whistle WHDLoad versione doesn't work on Amiga 600 with Furia Accelerator...

Hi All!

I've got 3 different Whdload verions of the game "Eat the whistle" made by @Aladdin and I've tried them on my Amiga 600HD Whdload machine powered up with Furia Accelerator but they doesn't start: after showing a orange "recoverable error" Amiga reboots...

Any hint?

Thanks in advance!

Try disabling cache in Early startup menu.

Why not just install the native hard drive version?

That's what I did

Your using an A600 with Furia so no real need for a WHDLoad version; especially a "generic" one.

sorry, i prepared for my aga system, you must remove "NewWPA8" on startup-sequence for ecs system.
Now i remove these tool for new package (I did not watch that it did not work on ecs)

http://gabrielegreco.tripod.com/etw.html

Now new open version SDL: (but no joystick)
https://sourceforge.net/projects/etw...a.zip/download
https://sourceforge.net/projects/etw...s.zip/download

Pour une utilisation sous ECS, il faut enlever le tool "NewWPA8" de la startup-sequence (data\s\startup-sequence). Je n'avais pas fait gaffe que ce tool était juste pour AGA. Je ne le mets plus sur les nouvelles installations.

It doesn't work on ECS as I've tested in WinUAE, but I don't know if does on a Furia accelerator (with it's 680EC020 CPU).

...probably not as I'd imagine you still need an AGA chipset etc.

Tested on my A600 with furia. It does work but you also need 2mb chip ram and kickstart/wb 3.1

To be honest I wouldn’t bother trying to play on the A600 as there really isn’t enough memory even with the furia. The game takes ages to load and the screen flickers on the loading screens even with preload. The graphics are rubbish compared to videos I have seen and it doesn’t load any grass textures and the goalposts are also missing. It’s really jerky and slow due to the generic slave loading it’s own Version of wb3.1 into ram along with kickstart 3.1. That really doesn’t leave much memory left for the game itself. I might try it on my A1200 tomorrow as that has 64mb fast ram so should make a big difference.

If it does actually work on A600 with Furia then you're best doing a native install instead of WHDLoad, as far less memory is needed

the whdload is just a wrapper, you can launch directly in native by entering the data directory

Maybe so, but to load 20MB or whatever of data you'll need a lot of RAM to use "Preload" in order to stop screen flashing

These silly Generic WHDload installs should come with a Disclaimer that they are not official and Don't bug report to anyone but Aladin via Email or something.

For all official Whdload installs, they have to be found on this site ... http://www.whdload.de/games/Ea-Ep.html

Launching from the data directory is so much better, no flickering and it loads much quicker. Graphics still missing though in the game and looks and plays like crap still.

Ok, thanks to all!

I've managed to install the game on HD and... not, it's not a great game at all. On Amiga 600 with Furia and 2MB of chip ram it flickers a little but I don't think that on a superior model it can be much better in terms of playability....
