EoB III / Lands of Lore - ports requests
Hello guys, is there any possibility to make AGA version of Eye of the Beholder III?
Though i remember that EOB III on PC was pretty slow at decent PC at that time. |

An AGA version of EOB2? Cool! This was one of my favourite games "back in the day"(TM). I wonder why I've never noticed this thread until now, though?

Probably easier to get the PC version and play it in DOSbox though? Although I realise that's not really the point, since the same could apply to a 256-colour EOB2. I guess it's the challenge of doing it that counts! Steve. |

I remember to have read in a EOTB AGA document the idea of Lands of Lore Port!!! I prefer Lands of Lore before EOTB 3.

CFOU! is busy with life, so if he cannot spend time on this or someone doesn't carry on the coding job, there's nothing new.
[edit] moved from EoB2 thread |

EOB3 graphics are completely different in their structure from the ones in the episode 2 (as far as i remember) so they would need a complete rehaul to be reduced in the elements EoB2 uses; either that or the complete engine should be ported.
in the first case, you would have then to port the rest of the game nevertheless. as i said, it's not impossible, it's just very long a work and currently there's no coder interested, alas. |

So probably its actually faster to do it over episode 2 engine and capture EOBIII screen by for example fraps then import it in episode 2 pic format
Well ... its maybe not so interesting to port maybe one day. |

EOBIII is a fine rpg, it was plagued by it's ridiculus coded engine...

Eob 3 is not different from the second one, but for: dumbly hard parts (undead dragons for instance), some silly features that you can avoid to use (all attack, tiger shaping character, etc.)
i.e. a poor RPG, but a nice dungeon crawl, exactly like the others eye of the beholders. the real difference is that the first two had more interesting feeling, and prolly the novelty. i would port it nevertheless, maybe with some tweaking. i played land of lore 1, and aside the stellar graphics i have the same indifference playing it as eob 3. |

lands of lore is too linear for my taste. Usually there is only one thing to do. I liked the second and third part because they were a little more open in the world design, but they were still horribly linear storywise, and horribly buggy
Nah, for an excellent dungeon crawl I would always prefer Black Crypt, Crystal Dragon or the golden oldies Dungeon Master 1/2. Black Crypt with the magic and skill system of Dungeon Master, now that would be ultimate for me. (edit: not forgetting Captive of course, but I am talking about medieval crawlers) |

the problem of the ports, to me, is that then you have a pc game on amiga and that's the reason i did not like that much the eob2 AGA version that the majority of the people who trted it did enjoy.
i would like an amiga version of many games, not them being able to work on amiga, it's a bit different... but that's not much important anyway |
