How to Copy a Kickstart Disk

Hey all quick question. I have an Amiga 1000 and have been trying to back up my kickstart disk. It seems to copy ok within WB 1.3 but when I try to load with the new disk it doesnt read the kickstart.

Is there a special way the kickstart disk needs to be copied?

Thanks

Jim

Hello sockpuppet999 errrr Jim,

Welcome to EAB

Hmmm, I'm sure there used to be a tutorial somewhere around here...

I thought it was in the >> Amiga FAQ << section but this changed to a wiki a few months go and I couldn't find anything

I did a quick search through the forum and found these threads, may not be much help though:

... Trying to get Kickstart 1.3 ROM off of my A1000 with Workbench 1.3
... Kickstart

Jim,

The way I read your post is that you are simply trying to copy the disk's contents to another disk.

Stick with 'copy' under workbench, but keep trying different disks as they become corrupt after a certain age.

That worked, must have had a couple bad disks. I want to back allot of things up as well as the floppys seem to be going bad allot lately.

Glad you got it working. Might be worth getting XCopy though - or one of the other great disk copy tools.
