Axis by TBA Soft...
Ok, it's another Acorn game.
I've got an original copy, I've never seen it on the net - probably because it's one of the few RiscOS games with better than laughable copy-protection. Why am I posting? I'm going to see if I can make some working .adf's I like it so I hope others will too If I don't say something in public I'll never get round to it If I can get this b*gger to work then I'll keep trawling my collection - the rest will be easy by comparison... |

Cool! I hope you get it working! It's very important to get the games out there so they aren't lost.
Perhaps you could make an IPF and send it to the SPS team? Or maybe mail them the floppy? If you can't make an ADF that is (and if they don't have it already).. I don't know |

Lets find out if I'm any good @ this... ...next on the list will hopefully be FTT also by TBA soft. A kind-of weird 3D racing game. Hmmm, there's a link here: No TBA games on the net, another game with copy-protection... |

Ok, Axis is in the Zone
That was much easier than I expected! A sign that piracy just wasn't an issue on this platform - I guess. Grab it while you can - it's an interesting game & I doubt you'll find it anywhere else! More on the way (hopefully). I really must get my FTP up again. |

Seems a shame to start another thread:
FTT: A weird 3D racing game; The tracks are a tubes in space & your car runs on the outside of it. Different teams to join 'Cars' with differing strengths & weaknesses... ...you get the idea. Now, this one's a bit toughter to make a .adf I can make working physical copies but think I'll have to get my hands a bit dirty on this one. In principle a .adf should be doable without hacking the game itself but the technique I'm using doesn't lend itself well to writing to a file... ...how I wish RiscOS had a PIPE command. The ADFS file system in RiscOS doesn't really care what it's reading / writing (media or file) so the reverse of the following should work: Code:
*BASIC >END=&1A0000 >DIM buf% 1600*1024 For each floppy image: >SYS "OS_File",16,"image/adf",buf% TO ,,,,L% >SYS "ADFS_DiscOp",,2,0,buf%,L%h |
