Amiga 1200: Prelude A1200/Blizzardvision - Clash?
Hey Yo!
I currently have a Prelude A1200 soundcard in my Amiga 1200 and have just purchased a Blizzardvision. Will the two hardware clash in hardware installation? And is there a way round it if there is? Regards, |

Heys CU_AMIGA,
i have not heard of any issues between the clockport prelude and blizzard cards, the only blizzard issue i have heard / read about was the versions I to III had trouble with the PCMCIA port or atleast some adapters attached to it. before all my stuff ended up in store, i used to run an appolo 060 @ 66 +64MB ram.. and it all ran fine.. AHI at the time was a little pig... but thankfully MEDSS was there to get me through the only issue i have ever had with the prelude was the dodgy driver CD that came with it many moons back (and i bought it from a reputable dealre too) |

Hey Yo!
Thanks for the replies. I didn't really mean the software side. I meant the hardware installation side (as in physically install it). I looked at the clockport and the socket on the PPC, and have got a feeling the BVision will touch the Prelude board, causing the BVision board to bend upwards (like the Power Flyer did). I may need some sort of clockport raiser or an extension to the clockport pins?!?!!? Regards, |

yes, as I searched the web for this I could only find a post on usenet about a guy that was selling an A1200 with ppc, bvision and a prelude. He couldnt use the prelude with an adapter he said.
http://groups.google.com/group/comp....b7fd10efbcbd80 I would maybe ask in amiga.org about this, as i have never seen this Prelude 1200 card or wait for a Eab member that have seen this combo |

Yeah, the only hope would be someone who have had some clockport equipment that have seen this problem before ..

Heys CU_Amiga,
lets take it nice and slow, whats the nature of the clash? do both devices not work ? or just one? or is it an intermittent failure while the items are running? please let us know what the nature of the clash is as it REALLY helps however this is what I would attempt to diagnose potential problem and obviously reslove to a solution... so take it nice and slow... 1. install the adapter software librarys as well as drivers for the the accerator card *including scsi. 2. test system 3. re-install prelude software 4. test system (you will see this a lot) 5. remove adapter (bvision) 6. test system 7. remove accelerator 8. test system 9. re-install prelude software 10. test system 11. let me know how this goes.. *note to make... delete the drivers and software BEFORE re-installing (remove any s:startup-sequence entries as well as any s:user-startup entries too , I am not sure but i believe there were differnet librarys for the 060 blizzard adapter its been so long so have a search on http://amiga.resource.cx . i would recomened a moment or two searching for the latest drivers you can get you mits on!. LMAO!!!! and theres me thinking its software.... it wouldn`t suprise me if you guys heard me go "DOH!" in norway...
hardware is easy peasy *with added lemon squeezy* using an old 2.5inch 44pin harddisk cable, modify to have a pinstrip header at one end. This way you can position the prelude anywhere in the case see pick bellow for more detail. some notes to make:- 1. you WILL have to re-plug the wires at one end so always double check you pinouts and numbering infact ALWAYS do this or say goodbye to any device attached lol. 2. keep the cable length short about 10cm is about the max length you should have. anyways i hope it helps. |

Hey Yo!
After much response (thank you), it seems that maybe this is what i am looking for something like this: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...2c512b78d60027 It may not be enough to raise the Prelude above the Blizzardvision. The 2.5" cable sounds like a great idea and would do that if i had a spare one. Has anyone got any spare and could do this hack for me (no longer than 2" in lengh though as this causes lockups!). Regards, |
