transferring from WinUAE to FS-UAE

I use WinUAE on Windows where I installed many whdload games on Workbench hdf, plus use it for Amiga CD32 isos

But I'd like also to play those games on Linux.

While things are easier for CD32 transfer, to avoid installing all those whdload games again, what is the preferable way to make the transfer so they work straight?

To avoid any confusion, I followed this guide to the letter so my WinUAE setup and folder structure looks similar to this

Hi petran,
If you already have a .hdf file then transferring it to fs-uae is quite straight-forward. Just start fs-uae, and work your way through the tabs to set your Amiga Model.
Tab one: Choose your Model and Rom type.
Tab two: Avoid if you don't need a Floppy drive.
Tab three: Add a CD Rom if needed. or:
Tab four: Add your .hdf or System folder.
Tab five: Choose your default Rom and Ram specs.
Tab six: should auto mount your joystick if plugged in.
Tab seven: add a board if needed (same as win-uae specs) also add a bsdsocket.library if you added it in win-uae.
Tab eight: choose a dedicated CPU and Jit Compiler the same as you have in win-uae.

Finally save the config (test) and click start.
If it fails you may need to add an FPU:
Go to settings icon in the last tab and add something like:
uae_fpu_model = 68882
or
uae_cpu_speed = max

I assume you will use a backup copy of your .hdf or system folder, so any damage can be reversed. Just try it and see what happens. You will find more info here:

thanks. I'll try setting fs-uae on Linux first (Flatpak version with elevated folder priviledges) and attempt the transfer afterwards

If you are installing on a debian version of Linux, there is a simpler way of installing shown here:

Unfortunately when I tried importing the WinUAE hdf files, they were greyed out and non selectable

it turns out that the portable WinUAE folder can be run via Wine Staging too without issues

hard drive in question has the following info

I created a hard drive and two system directories to install content .
Drive is titled betterwb.hdf, device name DH0, folder /hdf/

6400/1/32, 204800/204800 blocks, 100.0MB/100.0MB
PFS............. [50465301 00000000 00000000 00000000]
RDB/OFS/FFS

FileSysfs3aio-custom

Folders are pcdrive, device name PC0 and Games (folder /hdf/Games), device name DH1

FS-UAE launcher refuses to recognise and import bettewb.hdf.

Forget the import, just make a config suitable for your needs and insert the HDFs by hand ...

I always got my HDFs on an USB stick so I can use it on various machines

That specific hard disk also requires pfs3aio-custom. lha file as file system or else it will crash. I do not see the file system option like in WinUAE

Can I add it via whdload arguments?

I'm not sure what you mean ?

The filesystem handler is going onto the HDF itself on the amiga side (into the L directory)

it is the file named pfs3aio-custom that has to be added manually. Without it the hdf crashes after launch.

I am using Flatpak version of FS-UAE. Do I have to store it in a specific folder?

maybe also in linux could be some nice front-end for emulators and to use fs-uae to replace winuae. One of this is Java Gamebase that should work great for Amiga
