I have an Android version running. I was going to publish it on OUYA, but the damn thing is dead as a doorknob now, so I handed non-PC rights off to a publisher. Hopefully they will get it out on consoles and mobile this winter. Last edited by darkfalzx; 29 November 2015 at 04:00. |

At this point I just need to get by and finish my Kickstarter project before backers eat me alive. Once that is done, and **hopefully** selling better than Belle and Ultionus, I'll get back on SOTB Legacy, and perhaps even go beyond it. |

@darkfalzx: maybe it is a good idea to name all required linux dependencies, as i had problems starting the game (arch 64bit).
here is two of them which were missing lib32-openal lib32-openssl any news regarding a more advanced build? i am especially looking at beast 2 to get finished, as it is my fave beast and offering an awesome atmosphere |

I have started working on a Beast 2 remake a while ago, I basically just recreated the gameplay with the aim to eventually test if it would transfer well into a Metroidvania-style game. So far I can control the main character (run, jump, attack with ball&chain, duck, climb rope) and travel through the main game world. The only other features are the maggot-fliers that hang under branches and the flying piranhas at the bridge, as well as the tree-hands throwing bombs. What I have in mind is to add some depth to the gameplay and not make it completely linear. For example, there could be "Beast powers" that the character gains throughout the gain, like beast jump to jump higher and reach previously unreachable platforms. Kinda like the special abilities in Super Metroid. It doesn't make much sense for Aarbron to gain beast powers when he is actually in the process of transforming from beast to man, but whatever The ball&chain basic weapon could work like the whip from Super Castlevania (8 directions), and the throwing axes could be found throughout the game or dropped by enemies; they would be used to destroy certain doors and barriers (like missiles/super missiles in Super Metroid). They already do this in the goblin prison, but it would be a shame to underutilize them like this. Also, a javelin or spear would be cool, like the goblins use. Maybe someday I'll find the time to work some more on this game.

How about talking to non-human enemies as special ability? I know about dragon and slug but these were some powerful, magical creatures. Another idea are teleports, to old well from first part or meeting friendly bird from third part.

Sure, why not. Beast 2 already lets you talk to enemies. A quick visit to the well from part 1 would be a nice easteregg It would probably need to crumble after a few seconds and reveal that it's all an illuion by Maletoth or whatever, otherwise you'd have to create the whole Beast 1 world too

@darkfalzx
for quite some time now, beast legacy (arch based linux) won't start anymore but will exit with a segfault, despite all its dependencies seem to be installed properly. these extra packages needed to be manually installed, if i remember correctly: 'lib32-zlib' 'lib32-openssl' 'lib32-openal' 'lib32-mesa' Code:
ldd ./runner linux-gate.so.1 (0xf7f08000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6 (0xf7d46000) libz.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libz.so.1 (0xf7d2c000) libXxf86vm.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libXxf86vm.so.1 (0xf7d25000) libGL.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1 (0xf7cc1000) libopenal.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libopenal.so.1 (0xf7bb8000) libm.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libm.so.6 (0xf7aeb000) librt.so.1 => /usr/lib32/librt.so.1 (0xf7ae0000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libX11.so.6 (0xf7993000) libssl.so.1.0.0 => /usr/lib32/libssl.so.1.0.0 (0xf7926000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libgcc_s.so.1 (0xf7909000) libc.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libc.so.6 (0xf772c000) libpthread.so.0 => /usr/lib32/libpthread.so.0 (0xf7709000) libdl.so.2 => /usr/lib32/libdl.so.2 (0xf7703000) libcrypto.so.1.0.0 => /usr/lib32/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 (0xf74f5000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /usr/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xf7f09000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXext.so.6 (0xf74e0000) libGLX.so.0 => /usr/lib32/libGLX.so.0 (0xf74bd000) libGLdispatch.so.0 => /usr/lib32/libGLdispatch.so.0 (0xf745b000) libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib32/libxcb.so.1 (0xf742f000) libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXau.so.6 (0xf742a000) libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libXdmcp.so.6 (0xf7423000) terminal message Code:

It's awesome to see more progress on this project - but the download link seems to be broken? (Did the forum software remove whatever should have been between "www." and ".com"?) |

Oh yeah, it's because this board for some reason has an issue with a hosting service that begins with media and ends with fire.
