Would you recommend to use Executive in my AmiKit conversion? I've heard bad things in the past that now I don't remember.

I also remember bad things if I used a bad keyfile. Now that the keyfile is provided, I guess there is no reason not to use it.

I use the Queues scheduler.

That one is quite old now,

It's a real shame we can't download the new one from Cosmos' site anymore

Since Exec library source code leaked, I don't understand why Cosmos do not work from it.
I don't think it's less illegal than updating CBM sources.
As for the rest of the OS it's mainly C and AFAIK Cosmos is more proficient in ASM so having the original 3.1 won't help much I suppose except maybe for the comments. They should release the 3.1 source code as opensource for 68k purpose only IMHO.

It states in the Readme of his latest exec.library
that he is still looking for the original sources of Kickstart 3.1

I had no idea they had been leaked, so maybe he hasn't either...

Why he was banned i have no idea. But as far as i know he pulled all the working links due to people profiting of his work, claiming it their own, where as he wanted it spread "free of cost" and to be credited.

I'm not sure if he's still active anywhere, and if not, your only shot is getting someone else who managed to get the latest stuff, to share it with you. I wish i downloaded and stored it, but thats a bit late... prowler linked above. It's not "the latest stuff" but i suppose some is better then none...
Best of luck.

For what it is worth, we exchanged some emails about Amiga related stuff like three weeks ago. He was supposed to reply back, but still no news.

I hadn't heard about this. Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention. Have you tried it out yet?

yes, running 45.137 for a long time on my wb/kick 3.1 system,
together with PeterK's icon.library. never saw any problems.
updated to 45.138 some days ago, still no problems.

one things is strange, the workbench version requester does not show the correct version,
but cli command does. I'm no workbench expert, maybe this is just a side effect.

#1) almost on top of startup-sequence:
Code:
Version >NIL: workbench.library 45
If WARN
  LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:icon.library
  LoadResident >NIL: LIBS:workbench.library REBOOT
EndIf

@emufan:

The version displayed for Workbench in that requester is derived from version.library, not workbench.library.

Would you explain a little more what you are saying Minous? The workbench requester is reading from the actual library and gives one answer while the CLI is reading through the version.library something different from the library?

thanks for that info. so I can ignore it, as I did in the past
the 40.42 does match the $VER string from libs:version.library
while the $VER of workbench.library in 3.1 ROM is 40.5
this is indeed a bit strange.

@dannyp1:

It's the other way around: The Workbench requester is getting its "Workbench" information from version.library (will be 45.5 for an OS3.9+BB4 system) - the term "Workbench" here is being used in a broader sense than just workbench.library. Whereas using the Version CLI command on workbench.library will give the version of workbench.library.
