EAB/Lemon Super League 2017: Round 7 - Benefactor

EAB/Lemon Super League 2017: Round 7 - Benefactor

Starts: 00:01 May 21 Finishes: 23:59 June 10

Rules

Post a picture of your score here with the score written underneath. Enter as often as you like. Only scores achieved during the round's time frame count.

Select NORMAL mode. Always use the provided passcode 2JQMPRPL4Q at the start of each new try (the Elevator Action level). Take a screenshot of your progress during the game or at Game Over point. If you die, your score will be reset to the start of the level, but you CAN continue until you get stuck. Players reaching the end of the 10th castle level must take a screenshot on the final password screen, which is 6HLNPMM4QN.

No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect anyone of cheating please let us know in private - anyone found guilty will be banned for the entire season.

The winner of this round gets to choose the letter for Round 9 - the third special round where you can only vote for games that begin with the specified letter. So a bit of extra incentive.

Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks to lifeschool for coming up with the rules for this one. Basically, this is another hyper-long game so to make it more accessible and hopefully competitive, we've decided to limit the competition to a set of ten levels which is (I believe) World 4 in the game. This should prevent it getting dull (such as going through the easy early levels over and over again) and level the playing field a bit more, with any luck. Hopefully it makes sense, anyway.

Completed the castle levels.

Found some diamonds, I searched the whole castle levels for hidden gates.
Couldnt exit all the levels with full energy, luckily the annoying ghost is only in the second and third level - maybe I replay the levels again.

Hint: To activate a lever while falling, just hold fire down until you touch it.

Thanks Harry.

I guess your final password is different from the longplay because you got a different score. I didnt think the password took the score into account.

I think that the passwords are generated considering the score.
I completed the game long time ago but I still have all my codes. They are different from those you can find on Internet...

I would like to play this game but it doesn't work anymore on my system as I wrote in this thread, can someone give me an hint?

@Harry
Great score, mate! Go EAB go!!!

The majority of points lie in a level with 4 diamonds (somewhere in the middle of the levels). The last level was a disappointment point-wise and took me almost 2 hours to solve. The others were not that complicated. However, most times the diamonds were behind a lot of moving platforms and not easy to get.

One more note: When you are in a hopeless situation, you can press Escape to restart the level.

Thanks for this hint, haven't looked for hidden doors while on moving platforms.

Okay, understood what you meant. Still checked all moving platforms - there were no secret doors.

Final level was really difficult, don't know if I could've solved it without your "activate lever while falling"-hint. Here's another hint for people struggling with the 10th level: you can block the grey merryman with the weight.

Seems like I found 1 or 2 diamonds more. Still don't know how to get that one diamond in the 2nd level. Maybe it's only there to tease you and is just unreachable.

That's my best for now.

I finally had the chance to play it through the castle levels... I like this game and, as I said, I completed it a few years ago.
Obviously I didn't remember the puzzles so it was fun again.

BTW, it seems that I've somehow found the cause of the problem I described here or, at least, I know what I have to do in order for the game to work.

I downloaded again the WHDLoad package, tried it and it worked so my first explanation was that the previous file was corrupted (but that didn't explain why my old installation wasn't working anymore...).

Well, good enough... I then powered off my computer and tried the game a few hours later but it didn't work again.

I was very disappointed... it is impossible that the files get corrupted everytime (or my drive has serious problems) so I realized that the only difference between the two last times I played the game was that the first time I had started the TCP/IP stack (AmiTCP through Easynet Pro) before playing the game.

I know that's weird, there's even a line on my WHDLoad startup script that stops the TCP/IP stack when WHDLoad starts, but actually that's the solution of my problem. If I start Easynet before playing Benefactor, the game works perfectly. If I don't start the TCP/IP stack the game hangs when it tries to load a level.

Unbelievable, I know... I think that this happens only with this version of WHDLoad (I should try downgrading to version 18.2 or 18.1) and for sure, the other WHDLoad games I've tried work with or without having started the TCP/IP stack.

Only Amiga makes it possible...

Sure that's the same diamond Harry missed. Next time your score will be close to mine.

No idea how to get those three gems in level 10 and the diamond in level 2. If someone finds out I'd appreciate if he reveals how to get them or at least give a hint.

Yes, I think so...

Unfortunately I can't give you any help... I haven't found a way for grabbing those gems in level 10 and that diamond in level 2...

No problem, maybe they're just there to confuse us and can't be reached.

I'm assuming not. After I've completed the levels I'm going back over them in more detail. Could be quite interesting as I'm guessing a few people will complete and get the same points, so it could come down to max energy and finding this crystal.

Yeah I also think the developers intended that every gem can be collected somehow. But maybe some levels are just bugged and the secret door won't open.
