Well it seems to me that everybody is getting in on the act

I've already done the master with the snow reducing to 0 px and the snowflakes fading out. Looks rather better in the hires than it does in the web size, but I'm still working on it

btw. your image has the wrong boing ball, as a new one has been added which replicates the original as closely as possible and the background colour is wrong too, but this has been fixed since

@TCD
Cheers mate

@Shoonay
Good idea, I'm sure if the system can recognize the users local time, it shouldn't be too hard to implement something to show the correct image. But surely that's something for RCK to decide and to add, if of course it's not too much trouble.

Snowflakes fade in and out 'n' snow rises up and then drops down. And I incorporated the two stars

Okay, here you go :
The fade effect and the star are cool. Well to be honest I liked the previous version too, but I think this one is slightly better

Cheers guys

@bippym
Baby Jesus, jospeh, mary, a donkey, a crib, the 3 wise men, 3 presents (Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh), santa, a robin, xmas tree full of decorations and a stained glass window, with the Boing ball, EAB text, snow, snowflakes and the snowman

Somehow I don't think I'll fit that lot on the 309x60 + 90x60 images

Did I volunteer for this jobby

Well, I think as it's bippy's idea he should PM RCK to find out if he agrees with the continuing saga of changing the EAB Logos all the time, or just the snowman one would probably do

just my 2 cents.

if you want to do this, do it good:

1) make the title line taller (130 % of what it is now)
2) make it all consistent (logo should remain the same all year long, just themed)
3) plan a, say, square space after it for theme objects, like, in his case, the snowman.
4) make the space for the IRC channel use the increase of height by making it narrower a bit
5) scrap the HOL search box and design a new one with HOL and AmigaRack searches (as it stands now there's much space unused anyway); this, also, should NOT change seasonly.

there should be the 4 seasons as in the ancient EAB logos, plus eventually some special ones: Easter, Valentine day, if you will, Xmas.
Keep it easy and keep it with a blue dominant (Abime, the server means [marine] abyss and it is the theme choosed for the board)

Keep it also not complex in regards of the themes, as this is and should remain a place for everybody, not for a given part of society

Again you sumed it up pretty well marco Don't know if the title line has to be extended to 150% in height, but that would give DH more place to be creative I really hopethis happens, because it would add even more to this great forum

you are right: 130% is more than enough: this way you can be creative with the theming, but not necessarily enlarge the logo (if i remember correctly, it was larger at the start of this board and it was streamlined to be more elegant, as it is now)

130% taller = 78 px or 150% = 90 px Sounds good chaps

And of course marco, the idea of making special stuff goes to where the snowman is (valentines day, Easter, Xmas etc.) and I must agree with you regarding the Logo, keep it the same but add the theme around it, like I've sort of done by adding snow etc (Even though I've changed the colour sceme of the letters, only to make it look a bit more cheerful for Xmas) I too think we should keep the thing simple and to a minimum, stick to the obvious themes and don't specialise anything towards any different cultures or societys.

The background marco was a slight problem, as the one supplied to me by RCK has a slightly bluer colour and I didn't notice it until it was there, this has since been fixed and shall not be changed. The main colour is now set in stone mate!

I've also asked RCK if the original EAB logo size, being 309x60 can be resized to incorporate the other image size as a standard to 399x60. That way we can create just one image and not two. Obviously if there is going to be no theme added to the additional space then a standard image will be used, just to give it that homely EAB feeling
