Amiga 1200 reset button (Spectrum Style)
I created a reset button for my A1200 ..like the ones on the Sinclair Spectrum 48+ and Spectrum 128k
This is really usefully mod cause I do not like keyboard reset |

I really hate it. The hole in the Amiga case just because the user is lazy to press 3 keys together is inexcusable in my point of view.

Did you lift up the keyboard reset pin from the keyboard MPU? Better do it all the way if you really hate it! ;-)

You can use one hand to reset. Just use your nose for remaining key.

Then you should probably not use an Amiga anymore.

I have this ability via reset button on the power tower. Never really used until my Amiga keyboard died. PC keyboard connected now and while 3 key reset works, it doesnt acknowledge holding the reset keys down for if I want to clear any reset resident progs. Holding the tower reset button works a treat in this case.

I kind of like it, but the way you made the hole and just put it there is horrible... So I'd not do it until I had a much nicer idea of how to do it.. :P

but its not a bug, its a feature.
they probably made it so that one couldn't accidentally reset Amiga with one hand. |

btw, I forgot
the reset button I just created from the points of TP1 it is lot better than the original keyboard reset it is faster and reliable and it if you hold down the reset button for 3 or 4 seconds it will make a hardreset |

I like the Sir Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k... Why don't you change more than the reset button and you put an Spectrum motherboard instead of the Amiga Mb? You will have plenty of space for other things...

I must admit that when I got my 1200 out and managed to make an RGB to scart cable for it, I looked all over for the reset button and had to go online to find out how I used to do that. This button would have been oh so handy at the time, even without my memory problems, its surprising how much we forget when we come to using things again.
On TP1 is it the first 2 connections that are being used (hard to be sure from the picture) and if they are plated through holes, I think I would solder a 2 pin header there and use a suitable cable from an old PC to attach it to a switch (HD LED, PW LED or Reset cable etc) I think it is a great idea and would probably use it when I come to replacing the caps on my motherboard and have to remove the board anyway. |

Can this be done on the A600?
Also, is this a "Push to make" or a "push to break" button? |
