XAudio2 vs DirectSound
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...2-introduction
@Toni Can't this improve speed and sound a little bit in WinUAE? |

WASAPI has been there for ages already. No need for XAudio.

Is it perfectly on par with XAudio2 latency wise?
For some reason DS always worked better (faster, less crackles no matter the buffer I set) here (Realtek ALC295 + ASUS Sonic Studio 3 enhancements)... Should I give WASAPI another chance? |

XAudio2 is built on top of WASAPI (see wiki). If you find strange behavior in WinUAE with WASAPI you should probably provide more feedback (recordings, logs, configurations). |

It is old realtek, it probably sucks in later Windows versions without proper driver. Try some generic realtek driver without mainboard specific stuff.

Understood.
Will use WASAPI and report back if I find something strange with current setup and Windows 10 1909... |

Yep, had some problems with crackles and static noise with the default W10 driver. A full driver install fixed that. |
