Yellow screen of death!

Hi, I've just started getting an issue with my 1200.
I have an Apollo 1230 Mk-II and all of a sudden, when I switch the amiga on, I get a Yellow screen, and the power LED flashes 10 times before resetting itself. I believe a Yellow screen is a CPU error?

If I remove the card, it boots as normal.

Does this sound like I've fried the 030?

It's more likely that the contacts between the accelerator and the motherboard are corroded. Remove the card and push it back in. If it becomes better, clean the contacts.

The yellow screen means that an exception (or an unexpected interrupt) of any kind has happened. That the yellow screen appears at all means that everything needed to execute programs is ok, especially the CPU.

Defective RAM chips can cause such exceptions, too. Or loose contacts. Or a weak power supply. Or overheating. Everything which would cause a bit to change its value when it should not or to keep its value when it should change.

I think it was the memory.... I removed the simm, and it was working fine again, so I placed it back in again, and all seems well.

Maybe it wasn't seated right in the first place.

Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
