Sentinel level codes

I have been playing this game occasionally for a long time and am a quarter of the way through (level 2502). Has anyone been further? Does it get harder? The most sentries I have seen is 7, do any levels have more? Are there any later level codes available, or perhaps the level code algorithm is known?

malko was playing the game and adding level codes to HOL a while ago: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php...28#post1582528
Seems like he didn't get as far as you did though.

That's very cool; mine (http://amigan.1emu.net/aw/cheats.txt) have gaps in the series whereas those don't. I notice some are in bold; is there some significance to that?

Hmm, didn't see the bold level numbers before. malko added the following note: "Have put in bold my level jumps."

I am almost at level 2'000. Continuing to play from time to time as my goal is to reach the "end" of the game ( if any ).
And yes, the bold numbers are my level jumps . I try to jump as far as possible to then get as much as in between level codes (with the help of save state - the boring part )

Edit : I see in you file that you are playing the C64 version . This is where I discovered this game and so much enjoyed it .
If I recall correctly, the codes are different from the Amiga version.

I used to play the C64 version too but not for a long time. There are C64 and Amiga level codes in separate sections of that document.

Not for a long time ? But your file has codes up to level 9998. Never been that far BitD. Is there an end sequence on the C64 ?

That file is a compilation of various cheats; some of them (Amiga Sentinel, Castle of Doom, Citadel of Vras etc.) are from me but most of the rest, including C64 Sentinel, are just cheats I found online and consolidated into a single file.

You guys are amazing

I wish the WHDload slave would save the last password tho; so no need for paper or phone.

That would be great

Made a Mantis entry, but no response so far

There is no ending to spoil, the level counter just wraps around.

How much do the levels vary? And how many would you normally expect to need to play in order to complete it (am I right in thinking that the faster you complete a level, the more levels you skip?)

How many levels you skip is determined by the energy you have left at the end of the level. Sometimes you end up in a very hard level. Then it is a good idea to go back and finish a preceding level with less energy to avoid the difficult one.

If you ask, I guess you never played it yet. So, Worlds varies in difficulty and colours. The goal is simple : you are a Synthoïd and you have to avoid the Sentinel's gaze (stay out of his scan). Sometime the Sentinel is helped by Sentries and sometime Meanies will come to the rescue to help them. Game looks simple, but some Worlds requires a bit of experience to complete them.

To complete the game you have to win the 10'000 Worlds. You can take your time as your only limit will come from the Sentinel's gaze (but as long as you can avoid it, you can take your time). If you get hooked by the game, playing the 10'000 Worlds is not an issue. And in fact you will not play the 10'000 Worlds as you can get teleported up to +/-40 Worlds forward depending on how you play.

No. How many Worlds you "skip" will depend on how many trees you have absorbed before absorbing the Sentinel. Yo are never in a hurry to finish a World as long as you stay away from the Sentinel's gaze. Of course, Worlds are not flat, so absorbing the trees may not be an evidence...

To my shame, I've only ever played it very briefly, though with the manual at hand so I did complete the first level. It's on my list of games to check out, I'm one of those people who often replays the 20 or so games I loved back then, rather than some of the stuff that I didn't get for whatever reason (I don't think it was easy to get hold of by the time I got an Amiga)

BTW, only 3 Sentries but I remember level 1878 has being quite hard given the hole where you start. If you want to try it, the code is : 976 74 058.

For the one interested, I took the time to add on HOL some more level codes.
