C64P - The next stage in C64 Retro Gaming [HARDWARE REVIEW]

Quote:
So far we have done a number of hardware reviews now from products such as the UCassette, to The Future Was 8bit's SD2IEC. Well now we have something incredibly special to show you, a hardware device which is sure to be the next best thing in portable C64 retrogaming. It's the C64P; a C64DTV based laptop that has been sent to us by The Future Was 8bit! (Please note that this is an early press build and any issues are likely to be addressed for full retail )

That's an interesting product there mate, i did see mention of this on there site recently and was curious about it.

And again great review there Neil, really informative!

I personally wouldn't get one as i already have a few C64's, netbook, caanoo and jxd tablet for C64 stuff, but i have to admit it looks really nice!

so if you, like me, don't like those huge borders of wasted space then just select a wider zoom.
heresy.

Does the display output at 50hz for proper smooth scrolling? Not important to some but a deal breaker for myself.

Don't believe so as it's built with C64 parts, not that I've tried anyway

Being based on the C64DTV which is an FPGA, nope. Unless you can reprogram it somehow with another core (which won't be easy), but afaik you can't

C64DTV is not an FPGA, it is a custom ASIC, so you can't 'reprogram' it.

Whoops, my bad. I meant loading another core by the way, 'reprogram' was just for sake of clarity Nevermind, doesn't make much difference if it's an ASIC!

Looks like a simple Gameboy..

I guess the size of it, u can easily carry it... like notebook. Not bad, but its an extra device..

Now if something like this could be done for the Amiga we'd be set
