C1084S RBB Port Problem

My C1084S has a magenta tint to the image when connected through RGB. Pushing the RGB connector to the left or right while connected to the port brings the color back to normal for a short while, but then it reverts back to a magenta tinge. Is this a problem with the port that is easily remedied? Would I need to completely replace the port, or resolder it? Or?

Sounds like you need to resolder the RGB connector pins. The green channel has come loose.

While you're at it, you might want to reflow the flyback transformer joints too. These monitors are notorious for broken solder joints.

Any chance of pointing me towards a tutorial or video of this?

Not really, reflowing a solder joint is similar on any PCB.

You dab a tiny bit of solder on the end of your iron, heat the component leg + pcb foil at the same time, add a bit of new solder, remove the heat. Then move on to the next leg.

Practice makes perfect, don't practice on your monitor.

Also if you don't know about working inside monitors, or how to discharge a CRT, then perhaps limit yourself to reflowing only the RGB connector joints.

Yeah, my question was basically regarding where to find the flyback etc; I can do the solder on the RGB but I never did maintenance on a tube so..

I guess I'll just do the RGB fix. Cheers

The tube itself doesn't actually need to be touched and if you're careful, not even discharged.. The flyback is the black tower on the chassis with the high voltage lead coming out of it, the one that goes into the suction cup on the CRT. Resolder all the legs under it. :-)
