All Square by Digital Dalmatian

Hi folks,

Originally scheduled for release around April 2011, it was put back to December 2011 and then slipped again. My first all assembler demo is finally finished

Erm... not sure what else to write, so I'll just attach the .lha file, which contains an .ADF image. It should be run in WinUAE with an A600 configuration (as that was what I developed it on), but will also work on other configurations. It should be run from boot-up.

Added 18th Feb:

Now available on Aminet here

Added 24th March:

I have finally uploaded a video of it to YouTube! You can view it [ Show youtube player ]

Edit 3:

Nice copper bars and chess board. And I really like the little dude bouncing the ball, reminded me of flashback

and I liked the mod tune until it played that oriental pipe sample! (but I guess it's not your mod?), And the main logo was sweet too.

A sterling first effort Won't be long before your wowing us with glenz vectors, colour font scroll texts and vector bob galore

Thanks. I actually studied the Conrad Hart animations from Flashback when I started working on it. So I ended up drawing him in a similar style.

Did you read the credits at the end? No, neither tune is mine. The intro logo (that scrolls) was drawn by Greyfox in September 2010.

Kudos for finishing this Lonewolf10.

Many people would like to write some asm demo code but few actually do.

I agree with what's been said - my favourite thing is the animation on the little walking guy which looks really nice.

Now you've started, why stop here?

Take all the lessons you learned doing this one and code some more!

Yup, definite respect for finishing something... makes a welcome change from all the people who come on EAB telling us of their plans to code a <demo/game/brilliant new OS> who then fail to deliver anything!
And at the risk of offending a few people, well done on teaching yourself asm instead of taking the 'easy option' and cobbling together something in Blitz or similar language (*disclaimer* no offence intended, I'm sure blitz basic is very nice /pat)...

I know it is not the intended hardware but I had to give it a try.
It has lots of graphic problems on my 030 and it crashes on the credits. I'll give it a try in compatibility mode!

GReat job on finishing your own demo on your own

[edit] yup, putting the machine on Enhanced chipset mode and disabling CPU caches has fixed it.

That's good to hear, as I plan on using him (the animated character) in a game someday. I have plenty of ideas, but I'm currently taking a more relaxed approach and converting some of my routines to macro's.

Thanks, but I have been making stuff in AMOS for the last 10 years!

Sorry that it didn't work in your normal setup.

I just watched the YouTube vid. It seems there's a 2+ second delay for the Audio but that's ok for demos with mostly background music for audio.

It seems that most of the dual-playfield and sprite visual effects could have been done in AmosPro! (Wink wink!)
