I must chime in and thank you as well.

Your knowledge of the Amiga and application of it in emulation astounds me; I only wish others who are active had even close to the equivalent so that they could assist you. :-)

Best emulator ever of the best machine ever, yes I’m hopelessly biased. Your tremendous work and dedication is admirable. Thanks Toni!

So so emulation, awful accuracy, rubbish GUI....

Not bad for a first program in BASIC...

Keep it up Toni, even in this rubbish I see you have potential

Thanks Toni, Winuae and Altirra gave me back my early years of gaming goodness...

You and Avery are gods...

Much thanks for providing me with the uber-high-end Amiga compatible I could only dream about as a kid, on any common-or-garden modern PC! For turning Bernd Schmidt's Amiga 500 emulator into a beast of emulation wizardry encompassing the entire classic Amiga family. High-performance Quake under AmigaOS, Gloom Deluxe and AB3D2 faster than any real Amiga, CD32 games, combined with much better compatibility with the complete back catalogue of A500 games than my real A1200 had. I never thought it would be done.

Even in these days of Dolphin Wii emulation, WinUAE is still one of my all-time favourite emulators. Now with the free Kickstart replacement, the likes of AMOS can be freely and legally introduced to a whole new generation. Toni's labour of love has kept alive the vast back catalogue of Amiga software for many years to come. The work on AROS-68k is the cherry on the cake. And low-latency VSync, now working fullscreen or windowed!

I remember taking a taxi several months back. I got into a convo with the driver, and discovered he used an Amiga back in the day. He mentioned an old game he remembered, which I recognised as Llamatron by Jeff Minter - so I whipped out my netbook from my bag and got it on right then using WinUAE! His eyes almost popped out of his head! Long story short, he immediately downloaded and installed WinUAE when he got home, and introduced his kids - a whole new generation - to Cannon Fodder. I had to phone him to mention a new version of the emulator was out which had improved smooth scrolling AND no longer required original ROMs to play all games (which he spend many hours tracking down). How many other machines of that era are experiencing such real progress in emulation? Not many. And Toni's work has a good chance of bringing superb Amiga emulation to modern hardware for decades to come.

The work on WinUAE and AROS-68k was also a huge inspiration for my work on jAMAL and AbkViewer, bringing support for the Amiga's AMOS AMAL scripting and AMOS sprite banks to the Java platform, although these are very minor projects indeed compared with Toni's work (and I've had little time to devote to them of late).

Here's to Toni!
