Pinball dreams/fantasies on PS3

Hi, I currently have Pinball Dreams on my PS3. I got it from the ps store about two years ago (it got solid play time through the pandemic). All good. I'm now trying to find Pinball Fantasies on the playstation store and it looks like its not there anymore. Does anyone know what happened? I also notice that Pinball Dreams is not available anymore on the playstation store. Bummer.

Many games get removed from the PSN store for all sorts of reasons,

1. No longer hold rights to the game
2. Devs no longer want their games sold on the system
3. Money reasons
4. etc etc

Once they're gone, they're gone..

I have both games but it requires you to have a modded PS3 with Custom firmware.

Never even knew they came out on PS3! Still play them a lot on my CD32.

This is the issue with digital games, especially as the old stores gets shut down

It's an issue with ALL games, I can't play games off of broken floppy disks, cartridges and CDs either. They all have a shelf life, the only thing that differs is the manner in which they become unavailable to you.

Let me put it differently: when buying games digitally people really lie to themselves that they are going to be able to play them forever. Do you really think that the modern commerce factory will allow that to happen? Of course not. It's not economical.

Totally understand and agree.. that is the issue with having digital games.

@str0m, the port of Pinball Dreams on the ps3 is great fun!

Sad that games become unavailable like this.

Pinball Fantasies is available on the PSP. You can play it on the PSP emulator called PPSSPP. Separately both Pinball Dreams and Fantasies were available on iOS.

Like I said a modded ps3 can play any digital ps3/psn digital content, even if it's been deleted from psn store.

gimbal - Yes but easy ways round it with older games as you can make your own adfs for an Amiga or rip your Saturn game, get hold of a rom file for an Everdrive for an old catridge you own etc. Not as easy with say a 360 game which was only ever released on the Microsoft store.

Yes software preservation is an important thing. But you have to admit that even there the battle has basically been lost a long time ago, who is going to preserve games which now run into the 100+gb in size.

The size of modern games is ridiculous especially when you get an update and it can be 50GB, how! Surely only the main code is normally updated, why is it downloading all the assets/graphics etc again!

Love when I do use my 360/PS3 with a new (to me) game, put the disc in, at most a few meg download and play! No waiting hours and hours and hours for it to update before you can even launch it!

Archive.org enters the chat..

Slowly but surly the entire PS3/PSP library will be preserved and somehow they have this publicly available on Archive.

Size wont put anyone off preserving. Collecting might be a different matter.

I had an emulated (AFAIR) version on my PS3, but the lag made it totally unplayable.

Isn't PS Store for PS3 was already severely limited?- get few months ago notification about changes - seem you should be able to re-download already bought games but you can't buy anything new...

Seem since 27 October 2021 you will be longer able to buy anything with help of the credit/debit card, paypal... you need to supply money in advance to your account...
