Executable is broken, there is one packed section which is corrupted!
Meynaf: can you upload your version please? |

It's now in the zone. This one shouldn't be damaged in any way. Dunno which version it is, though.

Whoever "cracked" it for Crystal had no clue what he was doing! Modifying data in a crunched section really is a "bright" idea...
Properly cracked (manual protection completely skipped) version attached. Didn't test it much but it seems to work. Thanks Meynaf for uploading your untouched version. |

eeheh, I arrived late but got the same conclusion
But how this is possible? Not a proper ProPack decruncher? Laziness at most? |

Cracking by hacking crunched data is possible but should only be done when you can't do otherwise, and with extreme care (decrunch original, decrunch modified, and compare to verify this didn't have side effects).

Well, in this case the crunched data was completely trashed as Mr. "Cracker" added a nop opcode ($4e71) in the crunched data. That's not cracking, that's just plain stupid.

It may be useful when the game uses some kind of script system. I've seen cracks patching the code and destroying other parts of the game.

Well, interpreter based protections should always be cracked by patching the byte code of the interpreter data instead of using ugly crack patches. It was one of the reasons for HQC to return and release a proper crack of Monkey Island 2 (I think) as they were annoyed that no one did it in a "clean" way.

And such cracks become a little bit more complicated when said byte code is in compressed data...

Ok, but the game never goes past this screen:
Pressed mouse, joystick buttons, various keys... What obvious am I missing? |
