It's a kind of blur/sharpen filter to overcome the crappy patterning you get when scanning something at high res.

In fact you are probably better off using a mild blur then a sharpen.

Actually maybe not

ok 2 ppl happy so far

look like 200 dpi it is

the onlu effect that i`m going to ad is rotat some of them through 90 degrees

i also think that they are unlikely to be printed out, so scannin @ higher dpi seems pointless

so will probably start scanning full time nxt week, as have a bit of getting wasted to do first, well at least Ive found the scanner.......

I could add filters post scanning but it takes ages to do so I`m not going to do that

any ways its not like some1 else cant apply the filter and reupload the files

I`ve got my work cut out for me going through all the cd`s and scanning them
but i am missing a few so it won`t be a compete collection but at least it will be a start

still haven`t heard of a valid reason to increase the dpi so its still going 2b 200
now if I had a faster pc and a better scanner things might be a bit different ......

I agree with Supamax here. Do a 600pi scan without any filters. Especially text needs higher dpi resolutions. I've seen a lot on manuals/comics with nearly unreadable text.

Then edit the scans with decent software. The quality loss is far smaller when you edit/resize them later.

Furthermore, a descreening filter requires *at least* 600 dpi to work correctly.
But I'm speaking as a graphic and with archiving in mind (SPS, HOL, etc.) .

Hi cosmicfrog ,
you can scan at 600 dpi (at the end you will downscale to 300, anyway), but only if you have access to a very good descreener (like the Sattva's I mentioned) and a possibly Photoshop (or at leat a program compatible with Photoshop's plugins). In case you have doubts, PM me .
Normally, all descreeners sold in bundle with scanners are simply some kind of "blurrer", more or less. Sattva plugin is MUCH more

Done right, no one will have the need to redo them again later, Use at least 600 or a higher dpi.

As Supamax says "(SPS, HOL, etc.)" and for those that will print out the covers or onto disc.

Added some Amiga User International disks to coverdisks folder, from this thread. Kyrian will no doubt add the ones he has soon.

Have added a few AF subs disks that i picked up long ago. I think they were different from the orinal disks, never did look.

The disks are compressed using DiskSqueeze from the original disks. Now have adf versions of them, will verify them before replacing the .dsq for .adf disk files.

Have added DiskSqueeze v1.23 which i will remove when .adf disks are uploaded later.

Kyrian it seems has posted his AUI disks into user/Kyrian folder. Can someone move those to correct Coverdisks main folder. Superdisks into Amiga User Internatonal folder.

Have a problem with the disks i uploaded, years ago i imaged all disks i had. Well near all of them.

For some reason there is a few that got got imaged different, these are uploaded to ftp in above post.

Affects any disk i uploaded with (DISK_NAME.ds0-dsq) in the coverdisks/Amiga User International folder.

I used disksqueeze v3.0 gui front end with diskspare.device and packdev for compression.

Device = diskspare.device
Mount = 1
Unit = 0
Flags = 1
Surfaces = 2
BlockSize = 512
BlocksPerTrack = 12
Reserved = 2
Interleave = 0
LowCyl = 0
HighCyl = 79
Buffers = 50
BufMemType = 1
StackSize = 600
Priority = 10
GlobVec = -1
(possibly without stacksize,priority,globvec)

This seems to be the diskspare.device mount i used then or is a similar one. As can see BlocksPerTrack = 12. Is there anyway or a tool that can bring this back down to BlocksPerTrack = 11. Otherwise the disks are useless for originality. I can open these disk images by unpacking using xad, voodoox etc and copy the contents to another disk, though would prefer another set of disks if that was it.

More about this here

If nothing to do and are now rubbish, i will remove the images from magix ftp.

Hi Zambot_3,

If you're only downloading files, you don't need FileZilla. You can just use your browser.

BTW, I don't know what's causing the error message.

FYI, FileZilla works for me. You must have some configuration issue.

Hello, I followed the links all the way to this page hoping to get the Amiga Hardware Reference Manual.

However not all the directories are working, in particular The Zone! just get "this web page is not available"

Is it still available, or is the server overloaded etc?

Thanks
