Short information about Aros and V4

Currently Aros is tested and optimized on V4 Standalone. Base is my new distribution that is currently in development. It is creating look and feel of 3.1

short impression:
http://www.aros-platform.de/Aros_31.png

Network, RTG and SD-Card support work

It is based on magellan and views/plays many formats like mp3, wave, mods and many graphic formats.

It is currently in testing. Reports are here:
http://www.apollo-core.com/knowledge...28491&z=BiR1jS

I am pretty sure people will like it

it will be available for V4 and UAE. V2 support will hopefully follow (IDE boot problem still there)

I'm happy to test it with WinUAE. Will Network and RTG work on RTG out of the box, too?

I don't know too much about Aros, but I guess it is based on an Aros-ROM and not the original AmigaOS-3.1-ROM, right?

When I think of it: Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense.

Yes RTG, Network and SD-Card work out of the box

And yes it is completely independent of 3.1. It bases on Aros Roms created by Toni Wilen

Interesting, to me anyway! So SAGA's sub-cores; Anni - the snazzy new DMA controller and... ah... Ethel? for Ethernet are working now, that's good to know. Care to share some preliminary performance stats, Olaf? Pretty please!

I cannot myself because I do not have a V4 myself and Aros is WIP on V4 currently but I am pretty sure there will be very soon

I got a message that my V4 arrived, so once I get home, I will be testing this

I used to prefere the fancy blinged out version AOS3.x back in the days, but I feel like max performance, opensource and lightweight disto is the way to go.

it is in italian but you can see how it behaves

This is the official version for V4, I plan to offer versions for HDF and UAE of a plain 3.1 distribution.

I had a mistake in my first question... The real question would be: Will network and RTG work with WinUAE out of the box?
