EAB Games League Season 1 Round 8 - Leander
(Insert vaguely amusing tagline here)
Leander The rules for this competition are in this thread. Here's a quick run-down though: - The round starts at 12:00am UK time on Monday, October 15, and finishes at 11:59pm UK time on Saturday, November 3. - Scores can only be posted during the time of the round, any scores posted outside of this period won't count. - You can play on a real Amiga or an emulator, WHDLoad or not, whatever you prefer. - If you can, take screenshots or use a digital camera/mobile phone to provide proof of your score, however if you are unable to do this then you can upload your high-score file as confirmation. You should also write your score in your post. - Anyone can enter at any time, and you can post as many scores as you want during the round. Of course, only your highest score will count towards the final standings. - Between October 20 - 26 the voting will take place for the ninth round's game, a thread containing details will be created nearer the time. - At the end of the round, the player with the highest score gets 12 points, 2nd place gets 10, 3rd 8, 4th 7, 5th 6, 6th 5, 7th 4, 8th 3, 9th 2 and 10th 1 (assuming that many people take part). - No cheating! No using save states, cheat codes, trainers or anything like that, and no modifying scores in any way. This competition is just a bit of fun and hopefully no-one will sink that low. However, if you genuinely suspect someone has cheated in any way, please PM me and I'll look into it. If I find someone guilty of cheating, they will be banned from the league for the entire season. READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU START - The following options must be chosen: Quote:

Finally I have some time to participate
There might be a slight problem with scoring. Badies respawn (on later levels quite quickly) and there's no time limit. So you could be hacking away a single enemy for hours. |

Graham wrote about this as to turrican3 objections. I say, don't bother. Let's play.

I believe that sort of behaviour is most definitely frowned on round these parts. Rightly so.

You're slightly early with this one. (Think we'll ditch this rule for the Super-League)

Cool
As an aside, is it just me or are the default highscores in the WHDLoad version a lot higher than turrican3's screenshot...? |

Some improvement. Made it to the next world
183,100 The game doesn't seem to save the high score after quitting (WHDLoad version). |

Hmm, it seems like it should save high scores, according to the readme:

Duh! It works. The default quitkey PrtScr didn't work with the keyboard layout of my laptop so I probably just quit WinUAE and hence the score was not saved. Changed the key and all is good. So exit to Workbench if you want the score saved.

There are three types of bombs:
suicide bomb: down+holding down fire (this is not deducted from the number of bombs you have) To use the next two you need to buy extra weapons, can't remember the names of the different swords. One of them only fires the bombs when a big mask appears after you collect a scull. The most expensive blade activates the bombs just like the suicide bomb but you're not killed but instead you're invulnerable for a while and cause heavy damage to anything around you. There might be other ways. Weapons Leander begins his quest with a short training sword which delivers only one hit point to enemies. However, a quick visit to one of the many shops situated throughout the game could greatly enhance your enemy-destroying capabilites - if you have the finances: From the manual: Quote:
